Yes it would have been interesting at that forum last night to ask a question or two about the sport science methods their team are continuing or changing for next season. We are supposed to have all the bells and whistles at the gym (Cryochambers etc) but i wonder what we do regarding gathering biometric data on players to protect the players from themselves. What i mean is that players sometimes are not honest
( due to ego, worried about losing their spot etc) with the medicos regarding any developing injuries, until you get the situation where an injury that could have been dealt with through a little bit of rest gets aggravated into something more serious.
I have followed the Golden State Warriors for a number of years as i have family in San Francisco (yay 2015, dont mention 2016) and their medical team used sophisticated means to gather biometric data (among other things) over the course of their winning season.

They were able to calculate when a players levels were below their baseline data on a certain night (usually this would happen after a long stretch of games) and would then recommend that they rest the next game or 2 to get them back to a better level in order to prevent a more serious injury. (2 weeks off in the NBA can be 6-7 games in an 82 game season). Most of the elite players would only get rested 4 or 5 times a year based on these recommendations, but the Warriors had a relatively injury free season in 2015. There were other reasons they were injury free. Had good luck, plus they were destroying teams which allowed them to rest their gun players in the 4th quarter leading to less wear and tear over the the course of a season.
Interestingly in September of 2015 the coach Steve Kerr completely overhauled the medical team. Unsure of whether they stopped using biometric data as much, but Curry got injured 3 times during the year (the worst one just before the playoffs and another one during the playoffs). Obviously bad luck on the court (wet floor etc) can lead to all sorts of injuries but it was an interesting decision for him to change all his personnel after a winning season.
Would love to know whether we use the same medical and physical conditioning staff year after year and how much do they change their methods. Where do our medical staff come from, where were they before they came to the Warriors. Have their methods been successful at other teams?
Because its no secret that the last 5 years we have this horrible fade out at the end of the season and I wonder how much it is due to our conditioning methods and how much it is because of the mental side of things, and how much is it because our players just arent good enough.
I am being optimistic about Foran coming. I dont want to think we are getting a player past their use by date, ala Sam Tompkins who had lost all his speed by the time we got him....
