Foran - Where does he rate in the NRL

Agreed, however, there is one huge distinction between Carney and Foran; Foran is not an alcoholic that has been kicked out of pubs, rugby league clubs and regional NSW towns. Foran is one of the best readers of the game I have seen, he has the ability to single handedly change the momentum of a game, yesterday was a good example of this. He doe not only change his own game in a single play but he can almost instantly change the attitudes of his own players, giving them a lift while at the same time shaking the confidence of his opposition. He has been judged harshly for his game against Illawarra a few weeks ago but he did play through an injury sistained early in the first half and had David Williams and Joe G not both also been injured then he would have likely spent time on the sideline.

Foran has also not been kicked out of pubs and clubs in Qld.

he is a great player, top 3 however i dont see him playing 6 for the kiwis for the next 7 years at least. benji is our best player, and he isn't a good 7. so i can see foran being the 7 for the kiwis.

Benji is however injury prone (touch wood), so I would think he is likely to at least get an opportunity for New Zealand.

I can understand fans rating Foran no. 1 solely on this year. I wouldn't agree, but I at least understand.

But if we open it up a bit, I don't think he's surpassed Locky yet and he's behind Soward and Marshall for mine.

Dont get me wrong, Locky and Benji have both achieved more, and he's got some while to go to get to benji's level let alone Locky's

im talking here and now today... locky is great, one of the GOAT and Foran isnt there yet, he's not even close, but right now, Foran is a better 5/8th
and i think he's right now, the best 5/8th in the game. Benji is a freak but he's also terrible on a bad day... Foran is the Cam Smith of 5/8ths... his best is as good as the best, and his worst is not far from his best.

Will be good for the kiwis having a lot of depth coming through in the halves and fullback in coming years, two areas they've lacked decent depth in recent years.

Halves - Marshall, Foran, Johnson, McGahan
Fullback - Locke, Fisiiahi, Hoffman, Beale?

Those just off the top of my head (I'm sure there's more), so bigs raps on some of the youngsters mentioned.

I didn't rate Manly very much at the start of the year, but Foran has improved out of sight (and he was fine last year) and is working so well with Cherry-Evans.

Foran is very tough, and to have a young guy play so hard and with so much energy and passion even at the very end of a tough game, must be inspiring to the other Sea Eagles. On current form, he is the second best 5/8 in the game- he is better than Soward in nearly every department, but Soward is currently the best because his kicking is so devastating and keeps the Dragons as nearly unbeatable with their full squad.

Widdop and Lockyer are next best in form this year- anyone suggesting Lockyer is past it hasn't watched enough of the Broncos this year- he is still very much a reason for their success.

Maloney is in next best form IMHO (again because his kicking can dominate), then Marshall (because his best is still amazing).

But in terms of best player, not just current form, if you count past achievements and likelihood to replicate those on big stages, all the rest have some way to go to catch Lockyer and Marshal. I think if Foran gets through this finals series well enough, he will have earned the right to be considered along with Soward as the next rung down from Marshal and Lockyer.

Right now I'd still take the Premiership winning five eigth, Four Nations winning and Origin winning five eigth over the promising rookie.

And that's no slight on Foran. If I could select anybody to replace Locky it would be him but he's not as individually brilliant as the others, although he's very close on Locky.

A sentence that Charlie Sheen himself would be proud of.

Better than bi-winning...that's TRI-winning...

This proves that Darren Lockyer > Charlie Sheen.... If Charlie Sheen got $1.2m an episode, does this mean Lockyer deserves more pay?? :p

But Lockyer does not have Tiger blood. Although his voice does sound like freakin rock star from Mars.
