The main problem at the Knights is that we let players like Clinton O'Brien, Julian Bailey, James Wynne, Billy Peden, Jarod O'Doherty and Niel Sweeney go in the off season.
None of these guys will set the world on fire, but they are all guys who could fill in in firstgrade without disrupting the way the Knights play. They all had heaps of experience.
Having said that, we have debuted Craig Hall, Todd Bates (19 yo), Reegan Tanner (19 yo), Mathew Kennedy (21 yo), Andrew Price (21 yo), Blake Mueller (20 yo) so we have heaps of young talent coming through, all of whom just need experience before they will be very handy players.
Another factor is that the Knights have a very easy draw to finish the season, after starting the season with a very hard draw, and we still have 2 byes as well.
The Knights will finish in the top eight, and they will have a chance to give young guys experience and rest older guys with injuries during the easier part of their season (the back end of the draw), so the Knights could still be a force this season if the Gods of football shine on us enough to get some of our old crocks like Parsons, Kennedy and McDougall fit for the end of the year.
As for future seasons, we have never had so many good young players as we have right now. The average age of our Premier League team is under 20 at present due to the number of great young kids who just demand a spot. We have guys who I think would go close to firstgrade at other clubs who have been pushed out of Premier League to make way for 18 yo kids.
