That is a great story... Was no ego back then and it is refreshing unlike a few other ex players I have met

Who?

I have met a few of the older legends that have been good. Brandy and Peter Sterling both thorough gentlemen.

There was a legends exhibition match on the North Coast in the 90's. I met Cliff Watson, John Gray and Henry Tatana. Just missed out on meeting John Raper.
I found Ray Price and Tommy Bishop moody.
I met Gavin Miller a few years ago down the street in Goulburn. Smiled and said hello.
I know Jarred Croker's dad too.
Most of them have been good.

Gower is a toss bag all about him. And wanting to be worshipped. Wendell, Matty Johns the same

Seems that Generation you speak of is the humble ones

I met him in Hospital. Just after he retired. He was going around the Children's' wards giving out Easter eggs. I was stuck in hospital over Easter in the '90s. He was polite to me and he spent a bit of time with me and my parents.
I can only take people as I find them. In the one meeting I had with him he was decent.

Never met Gower but I was near him once. I was with my brother and Gower was coming through the gate before a match at Panthers. His hair was all slick and he had an earring in one of his ears. He looked stern at the time. I thought about saying hello but I didn't think I would get one back. So I left him alone.

I wonder do these retired players get fed up with us Joe and Jill public, pulling them up, wanting to chat.......sometimes I bet they would happly wish us all to hell and it's fires, whilst other times they would enjoy a chat and reminisce........

I suppose it comes down to what kind of mood they're in.

Worked with a fellow who played with Hawthorn during 70s, introduced me to a few explayers, nice blokes. Attitude seemed to be no worries talking about the game just don’t talk about me. Melbourne treats AFL players like gods so there is a lot hero worship down there.

I find the Matty Johns one strange - I've had a chat with Joey a few times and he comes across as a genuine bloke who loves a laugh so I would've imagined his brother was similar.

Former NRL star and current Titans assistant coach Michael Gordon has been stood down by the club after he was charged over alleged drug offences.

--

One of my favourite ex-Panthers. Hope this is false or at the very least he hasn't gotten himself into a lot of trouble.
He's the absolute last player you would've expected to be in this situation.

Alot of our former players seem to get there now.

Former NRL player and Gold Coast Titans specialist coach Michael Gordon has been charged by police in connection with a syndicate that allegedly distributed illicit drugs such as MDMA and cocaine across the NSW and Queensland border.
Gordon was charged with two counts of supplying a prohibited drug and two counts of possessing a prohibited drug as part of a wide-ranging police sting yesterday.
Six others were arrested and charged, all accused of allegedly operating the syndicate on the NSW Far North Coast and south-east Queensland.

Mickey G WTF!

Geez that Titans environment must be shite. Never would have happened if he stayed at the Panthers.

This one hurts in relation to Gordon. The guy was my favourite player while here and for some reason someone I just thought was a player you would never see do anything bad. Seemed like a great bloke and family man who had great morals and its just such a shock to me. I loved him no matter what jersey he wore after leaving as well.
