Former Panthers in the NRL

As much as I hated it at the time, the club got the Sauce call 100% right. Still love him though.

Agree to some extent.

Still think we win it last year with Sauce and I think he deserved a premiership more than anyone over the last decade.

And without talking in probables and what if’s, I think we likely keep a hold of Burton if Sauce stayed last year (assuming Staines left).

Could be a long season for him though, especially if he’s playing outside Paulo.

He could have stayed last year and been a squad filler, which is pretty much what he did a Souths anyway. I understand emotions and all that, but ultimately leaving was his choice for 2021.

I don't think the Sauce situation had any impact on Burtos decision. He wants to prove himself in the NRL with the 6 on his back.

Sauce had to go or play reserve grade. It was the right decision to let him go.

He has been useful for Souffs and will be for the rest of the year.

I don't think Mansour ever matured enough as a footballer.

Even after a decade in first grade his footy IQ isn't much better than a rookie.

His physical gifts got him to the Australian team but as a winger he never mastered the position like Brett Morris and Alex Johnston who are in the right place 99% of the time.

To'o has shown better wing play in his early seasons than Mansour ever did.

I love what he did for us and the DWZ, Mansour and Moylan back three was great to watch.

I thought so at the time. Sauce threw his toys out of the cot in petulance. It spoilt how I viewed him, which I find really sad.

One incident shouldn't be seen as a marker on a blokes career or time at Penrith. The interview was done 48 hours after a GF loss. Emotions would still have been raw.
It hasn't changed my opinion of him. For the most part of his career he gave great service. One of our most passionate players to pull on our jersey.

His effort, or lack of, in the GF was there to be seen. Maybe he stamped his own papers. Sobbing off to the Media turned me off him. Last night he was ordinary.

Sauce is definitley past his best but god he wasnt helped out in defence last night.

Multiple times he was left in horrible situations which were basically hopeless. The defending from his inside men was very poor.

Im with Marty and think he still deserved to be a panther last year. If that meant he wasnt good enough to be in the 17 no dramas.

Im suprised ivan and bennett etc never tried to convert him into a 2nd rower given his lack of speed.

Hes always been exceptionally strong and hard to tackle and hes speed wouod be good enough for the 2nd row. Has a decent enough offload too. At 183cm and 98kgs hes big enough. Martins 183cm and 103kgs so not a lot in it.

Sauce was a brilliant player for us and i always will rememver his brilliance for us over a long period whilst we werent good.

I hope he can have a decent enough year for souths in what is probs hes last year in the nrl.

Mansour is now sadly passed it. There are valid points he never evolved enough to get the rubbish out of his game. He has had some horrific injuries that have slowed him further. Maybe he should have been converted into a forward a few years ago, or maybe he should have left for the ESL.
He will always be a favourite of mine. Some on here wish to degrade his service on one outburst. I find that disappointing.

The club made a harsh, tough call that has proven to be right.
Given the timing of it I'll never hold the crap in the media against him. He did more than enough in the years prior to be cut some slack over some words.

The call was correct, but it could have been handled better. I genuinely think the club thought they were doing the right thing by Josh doing it how they did, rip the band aid off and give him time to sort out how he wanted to play it out. But while that kind of approach would work for a person who is measured and analytic, it's not going to go well with someone who wears their heart on their sleeve. It's pretty obvious where Josh falls on the personality spectrum.

Fair enough.

Sauce as far as I know when the dust settled, he didn't apologise for his outburst. This is coloured my view of his time at Penrith, whilst ever he was top dog he was fine. As soon as the young kids were comming through he spat the dummy, I saw that as being selfish and self centered.

I understand he's entitled to say whatever he likes....for me it tarnished his time here at Penrith.

That is your choice Alice. There are plenty of players that have played for the club I haven't liked. For numerous reasons. He isn't one of them.

At least he ended his time here, after some reflection on the right note.

Mansour was moved to tears when he delivered his goodbyes to the entire Panthers squad and coaching staff at club headquarters this week.

"While this isn’t an ending I ever envisaged, I’ve made peace with the decision and I’m ready to move forward with a new challenge," Mansour said in a Panthers statement.
"I want to thank the club and the fans for their incredible support through the ups and downs of the last nine years.

"I’m so grateful for every moment and everything Panthers has given me and my family.

"Whatever the future holds, I’ll always consider myself a Panther and be proud of what I achieved at the club."

Thanks for uploading that. I appreciate it. Perhaps I am overly harsh. I must have missed this video. Again thanks.
