Hiku seemed a better player before his ACL. Much like Whare. Though with Hiku sometimes it would appear he just lacked the effort.

RIVAL CIRCLES BULLDOGS OUTSIDE BACK

Elsewhere, there is uncertainty surrounding the future of Bulldogs fullback Dallin Watene-Zelezniak.

Read said on Triple M that a rival club as “shown interest” in Watene-Zelezniak.

He is contracted at the Bulldogs until the end of the 2022 season but Read added that the club may have to move quick if they want to keep him with other parties circling.

“It’s been a funny old time for him, he hasn’t really found a home,” Read said.

“He went there as a fullback, hasn’t really worked out and rival clubs have expressed interest and Canterbury will have a decision to make there.”

DWZ has been up for an 'unofficial' sale for a few months. Tigers and Eels have sniffed around. Not sure of the 3rd club.

He’s not going to find a club to play in his preferred fullback position so he is going to have to except a wing spot somewhere. Not sure I can see it happening anywhere other than the West’s Tigers given he had a good relationship with Madge during his time as NZ coach but I couldn’t see him ousting there incumbent.

Dragons should sign DWZ and play him on the wing with opposite Rava with Dufty at fullback.

Very similar to us when we had Mansour, DWZ and Moylan. Two strong wingers to cart it out to make up for a toothpick at fullback unable to return kicks.

Yet he was our most feared player.

2016 was his year. Certainly his best. Hasn’t quite lived up to his potential although to be fair he has had his fair share of injury, particularly the dodgy hamstrings which are problematic. He’s earned a very good living from the game and it would appear he may be getting a one year extension with the Sharks in front of Shaun Johnson so good luck to him. The 800k a season are over but even 400k a season is money only most of us can only dream off, particularly doing something you love.

$800k for DWZ hahaha

Wait for it $880k is his alleged deal for next season according to James Hooper.

Either James Hooper is full of you know what or if true then whoever authorised such a deal should never get a job around recruitment ever again.

I liked DWZ, he has had a decent career hampered by his brain snaps and lacking genuine pace, but seriously any contract over $500k even when he was an NZ international was overs so suggestions of $880k are just silly.

Honestly believe what you want to believe I guess, I just don’t see any GM or equivalent in there right mind paying such money for DWZ.

TBH Dallin wasn't playing great when he left us for 'greener' pastures. Who can ever forget that bumbling game against the Warriers where Dallin took Edwards out in going for the ball.

I have no idea what money he's currently getting. Although the $800.000 figure has been reported in a couple of places.

He'd had a couple of good years under Griffin pre Ivan's return. Also had a good (perhaps the highlight of his career) when he captained and played F/B for the Kiwis. Maybe this is behind the current rumours about him moving on from Dogsville.
