I have a 76' Ultra HD TV. Watching the footy on Channel 9 gives me a f**king amazing picture. I can see every bead of sweat pouring off players tattooed necks! I do not extra pay for HD Fox - as I pay them enough already. So if I want HD - it is nine.

So yes - I am a moron as I prefer nines coverage if I have a choice so I can watch in HD.

As for the commentators - I think a while back Fox crapped on nine with its commentators. In some cases it still does. But if you prefer Blocker, Kimmorley and Buderus to Rabbits ,Sterlo and Gus - enjoy !
Wow, so you went out paid a fortune for some kick arse TV so you can watch FTA and mainly advertisement content in HD. You pay for Fox, but not HD, even though you invested in a mammoth TV that does it. enjoy your HD ads about the next bachelor, cooking show or whatever they show on FTA these days in between the main content, advertisements.

As for commentators, try the mute button.

Moron level - Uber.

I can't even watch non HD channels on Fox on a 50" telly without concentrating on the shit quality. It'd be a pixelated mess on 76". $120 a year for HD Fox. I agree its bullshit they still charge extra for HD but its not worth it without it. Especially for sport and movies.

I’ve always been a 9 person because I was too tight to pay for Foxtel. However, when my TV antenna broke before Christmas I decided to spend the money on getting a Foxtel Now package instead. Able to watch the NRL in HD on my phone, computer or streamed to my TV. Go over to my mate’s or families places and I stream it onto their TVs.

Money well spent, especially considering Newcastle would be lucky to get 2 FTA matches for an entire year.

No dickhead - I bought the tv so I can watch movies in HD as well as Netflix which I stream in 4K HD. The sport is just a bonus.

Still though if you fork out for a telly that good ya might as well drop an extra bit of coin to make the most of it for the other 6 games a week IMO

You should be able to get HD basics+sport for $39 if you renegotiate with Foxtel. Plenty of tips in the Foxtel bargaining thread on the whirlpool forums

The only people who watch nine do not have fox. Except complete morons.
Watched Sunday's game on 9HD, on a 65" 4K set even though I have Fox. The difference in picture quality is quite immense. I think if Matt Thompson was calling I'd put up with low definition though. He is appalling. Worse than Hadley.

I enjoy Rabs on channel nine. And Andrew Voss on Fox Rugby league. Sterlo's analysis of a game is an advantage on the channel nine coverage. But not all of nines games have Sterlo and Rabs.

Ok. I was looking for a commentator thread but this might do.

Only thing channel 9 has going for them in commentators is Matt Thompson.

He is the future of channel 9.

I lasted into Round 2, then had to have fox sports back on. Ch9 really disappointing..nothing new in 2018 that i could see. They dont even bother to mention players being interchanged. And the saturation of Qld commentators when Cowboys or Broncos play is annoying...

Still have him over Nable. Fox bring themselves undone with Blocker. Anasta and co.

If Vossy does the Fox game I take them. If Sterlo is on 9. I take them if not it's TV on mute. Radio commentary

Mat Thompson is ok. Certainly not the worst. I think Nable would beat him as a contender for the worst.

I'm pretty much watching Fox for all games but theres a few little things they could improve on.

My dream team is Nable, Blocker and Kevvie with Hodges on the sideline.

Hopefully we'll get that when Canberra play the cowboys in Townsville.

Didn't take long for commentators to start whinging about penalties. Complain all last year about how the rules aren't enforced and now complain that they are. Had the old line dished out by Gus and Freddy yesterday - 'In Origin there's only 4 penalties a game and they let the game flow' 5 minutes later Gus is complaining that the refs don't penalise enough obstructions.
