French players who could do well in the NRL

Marine le Pen would make an alright organising #7 on a mediocre team as long as she's inside a solid running 5/8th and her duties mostly entailed telling forwards with low IQs where to run.

Could guide a team to top 2 but probably not a premiership winning half.
She played on the right wing back in the day didnt she?
Hated El Masri for some reason.

I never stated he was a star.

I made the point that he wasn't as shithouse as was being made out.

But hardly any higher rated than a handful of French players are at the moment which was the point I was trying to get across. Every player will handle to switch differently, I think Hodgson is pretty good example that you can't just assume how a player will adapt.

He was better than his French counterparts though.

It was a weak point made very foolishly.

You cannot say that Hodgson in the SL was better than all his French counterparts. Theo Fages, for example, is central to the St. Helens attack structures, as well as being a vigorous defender. As the renowned and astute observer Adam Kungl put it earlier here, Theo Fages is a gun. Morgan Escare has been excellent for Wigan and a crowd favorite. Pelissier is always good for Leigh. These three have been at least as good if not better than Hodgson was before he came to Canberra.

Keep up.

We were talking about 2014 when Hodgson was last in the SL.

Fages is not better than Hodgson. He's a good player, but not that good.

Furthermore, St.Helens are hardly playing that well, so giving him credit for their attack isn't the sort of glowing praise you are hoping it to be.

In an argument about what could be.

Signing for Canberra put the spotlight on Hodgson which perhaps sealed his selection once the first 2 hookers went down in 2014. So he was maybe in the top 1/3 hookers in SL (not all are eligible for England) hardly proof he would walk the NRL let alone become on of the best hookers in the World.

The point is not every player is doomed to linger in the NSW Cup because they can't possibly be a success in the big bad NRL.

Is it still talking in third person if the alt is talking about the original account?

I thought she was right wing not halfback? See myself out...

Just arguing with my "alt" again...

Fages is well short of "vigorous" as a defender. He is OK. St Helens have been terrible, particularly in attack (their defense has been decent), so it is not like Fages has been outstanding. Fages might still make it in the NRL, but I wouldn't rate him now, a better prospect than Hodgson was in Super League.

Escare might be a "crowd favourite". Who wouldn't admire a plucky little 73 kg full back, giving it his all? But he has not been very good. He scores some great tries, but he gets rag dolled plenty of times, and would be destroyed in the NRL. Obvious trolling to suggest otherwise.

Pelissier is and was well below Hodgson in the Super League. To compare the two is laughable. I'd compare Hodgson in the Super League to someone like Houghton (pre 2016- he also had a break out year)- very good, with a lot of potential (which they both have carried through on in 2016 and 2017- Houghton obviously had a few years experience over Hodgson, and Hodgson was probably seen in 2013/2014 as having better potential but maybe not the same experience, but the point is they were similar levels, and both "good" at Super League level). Pelissier is not even close to that level. He has good moments, plays with heaps of energy, and doesn't play remotely tough or smart enough to make it in the NRL.

Meanwhile, in the Challenge cup...

Tom Holmes just outplayed the much fancied Frenchman Theo Fages.

I recall seeing a few Cowboys teams over the years where the great JT was in teams that got spanked week in week out
