What a good game of football. Brisbane played so well, but didnt stick the knife in by taking too many 2 pointers.
A few points I wanted to raise though.
Early in the game Stagg was running the ball in the attacking 20 and was hit by a pretty soft high shot, which was deemed a penalty. I thought it deserved a penalty, not for the shot itself, but for the position it puts the attacking player in. He has his momentum forced backwards, his chin up and is going to his knees. If the other defender lines up a big shot and then hits the player in the chin, considering his head is already back, he could snap his neck. Have to say I dont agree with the commentators here.
There was the Greenshields incident as well were the referee called held, and he took off. By the letter of the law he should be penalised, but just calling him back to the mark could have settled it right?
Creagh threw a pass that would make Kurt Gidley smirk. How many blatant forward passes have their been that lead to tries? When they are that obvious, the vid ref has all types of powers why not tell the on field ref that the ball was thrown from point A and was caught at point B and then let the man in the middle decide if he thought it was thrown forward or drifted forward.
The video ref intervened when there was a clear strip that was called a knock on. this kind of changed the game, but what are your thoughts on the video ref not only deciding tries when asked for, high shots and sometimes 40-20's, now they are calling strips. This is kind of an extensikon of the last point... where to draw the line? Is the mistakes what makes the game great, or should decisions always be 100% right and checked by a man with a TV screen in front of him? I guess if it goes your way you are happy, if not you hate it.
I still think the Broncos played really well and were unlucky in some respects but I cant help thinking that if they went for a few tries instead of penalties they may have got them. Great kick by Gorrell too.
