Representative back-rower Tyson Frizell has labelled speculation he wants out of his St George Illawarra contract to join the Sydney Roosters 'very false, insisting he will see out his current deal with the joint-venture club.

Frizell was on Friday night forced to go into damage control after rumours he is unhappy at the Dragons and recently requested a release from the final season of his contract intensified.

Speaking after a potentially season-ending 40-18 loss to Penrith from a corner of the Dragons' dressing room, the NSW and Australia back-rower insisted he'll remain at the club if welcome until the end of 2020.

"Yeah, obviously there's been some rumours circling around about my future at the club and for me nothing has changed," Frizell said in an interview posted on the Dragons' Twitter feed which slightly resembled a hostage video.

"I'm here until the end of 2020 and as long as I'm welcome at the club I'll be here until then and all those rumours that have been tossed around are very false."

Besieged Dragons coach Paul McGregor also shot down the Frizell rumours at his post-match press conference after the Saints's season of misery reached a new low against the resurgent Panthers.

"Tyson's manager politely rang me this morning and said that is couldn't be further from the truth," McGregor said.

"He said while ever I'm coaching he's here. He's got another year to run on his contract.

"Me and Tyson have been together for 130 games and I've seen him develop into a young man, into a father, into a good married life and someone that went from being a fringe player to the most decorated player in our side as an Australian player.

"So our relationship goes way back and if you're looking for in-house fighting there there's certainly not one between me and him."

Frizell reached 150 NRL games on Friday night after making his debut for Cronulla in 2011.

He joined the Red V in 2013 after just 12 appearances for the Sharks, establishing himself as a NSW Blues and Kangaroos star in recent seasons.

Exactly...he looked better at the sharks and on the Edge...not the battering Ram approach by McGregor....
He definitely wasn’t better at the sharks, but was always going to be a great player. I do agree though that he is being used too much as a battering ram. Same with Aitken, even though he is not a forum favourite, he was in line for origin only one year ago. I just can’t remember the last time I seen Aitken or that whole right edge get any good early ball to be able to see what they can do with some room.

Nope....He had a passing game at the sharks and ran better lines due to better coaching. Aitken has always been a 1 trick pony...Strong runner, that's about it...poor defender, lacks a decent left to right pass....hasn't improved under McGregor.

IT IS CONFIRMED BULLSHIT

Please delete the thread
Bless. This is the cutest, most naive thing I’ve read for a long time. I hope unicorns visit you in your dreams and leave stardust under your pillow sa1nt5, who I assume is a five year old child with no experience in dealing with rugby league contract shit.

Sign him up long term YES, get a good coach to get him back on the straight runs out wide running off other backs and let him offload
But he is not a leader. Inspirational on field probably getting votes in players player but not captain material.
James Graham is captain material but is he 1st grade material in 2020.?

Sign Lomax longer term while your at it

He played 12 games at the Sharks..He was a fringe first grader, I bet you actually haven’t even seen any of his sharks games. He has become better since being at the Dragons, but he would have at any club as he put on more size, matured and played more games. Saying a player of 12 games is better than one with 150 is just a ridiculous thing to say no matter who the coach is. As for Aitken, it is a great mystery he has good speed, great power and sharp footwork, I really thought he had all the makings of a Matt Cooper mark ii, his decision making in defence, and his lack of passing really should have improved by now. I believe his lack of passing is hurting his running game too because the defenders don’t even need to mark the winger.

I’m not bagging anyone personally, and I’m just as entitled to my opinion whether I’ve posted 5 times or 500. I’m just stating facts. You might be frustrated with the clubs position at the moment as we all are but in 2011 when Friz played 2 games for the sharks, followed by 10 in 2012 the sharks were rubbish and won 7 games all season, and was also the year the peptide scandal began. They were consistently bottom 4 in those days until a salary cap cheat here and some peds there eventually got them that elusive GF.
Basically what I’m saying is that I’m not crediting Mary for Frizells development but it’s the Red V where he’s played his best and it’s where he belongs.

I hear you mate , but Fritz would be better with another coach , he has played better here as you say but its mainly his ability that has him where he is and regular first grade .....

I know he has a chronic back issue, plus he literally busts his nuts for us. He looks burned out to me but is the type of bloke who would never admit he needs a break. This is where a good coach would pull him aside and force him to have a few weeks off.
I’m worried that in camp Tedesco and co have got in his ear and regaled him with stories of yachts, brown paper bags, and professional coaches.
