For the start of the season

8. Ross
9. Kingston
10. Williams
11. Thompson
12. Bailey
13. Gallen

14. Hilder
15. Maiava
16. Douglas
17. Leulaui

Douglas, Maiava as the rotated props - Hilder and Leulaui as the backrowers.

Throw Douglas into the deep end early... Stosic played NSW res but he hits the deck to early with the ball. Ciraldo is a bit thin for prop but given what we have left may have to be tried in a trial :?

I think we can only carry one of the big kiwis either hutch or loo loo. they are to slow and there sideways movement is of concern. Im hoping Harlen is ready to step up with his former panther team mates Ross and Pomeroy in the backrow.

Agree about the Kiwis. They're best kept on the bench. Luke Harlen has the personality for the job, but I hope big Jacob Selmes is up to the task.

Weirdo is the one to step up. He's had 2 or 3 years now as the new kid on the block and should now be ready to shoulder extra responsibilty. He's big enough and ugly enough with enough experience in the NRL and in junior rep games to make an impact.

They chose him over Galloway so he must be in the plans somewhere.

I still question his build for an NRL prop forward frenz, but I haven't seen him in a month or two, maybe this is his off season to put more beef on which he'll need to play prop week in week out.

There is a reason most props mature after 25 as footballers, the young blokes find it hard keeping condition on week to week, Reece, Hilder, Ciraldo are all victims of this, although Hilder has put plenty on this off season so far and is looking good for 2006 IMO.

Ciraldo a victim? He played what all of two games of NRL?

Reece has been bashed in 2005 but he had a dig(see the dragons final.. He should of started ahead of Galloway). He is 106kg and 186cm with the avg of 11 hit ups a game for 90m and 20.7 tackles at 20. That is 4kg bigger then Nuts and 6cm. Granted Nutley was no huge man - Williams isn't that small. He bulked up from 2004 to 2005 and I'd say it is a safe bet he will do the same for next year. He would never be a metre eater - that is Ross' job. Williams would be more of a worker like Nutley. He could play next season in Flegg could he not?

With Nutley and Stevens gone, Bailey will have to take the ball forward next season and stop trying to dance with the ball in hand.

nope, he was born in 1985.
 I doubt that Bailey would do that..

Lose a prop and replace them with a backrower. Seems to have been our policy for 3-4 years now.

Gonna be interesting this year when we are without a few of our '1st pick' props.

The youngsters will get their chances in the big time for sure this year. Are they up to it?

I think Thompson often performs more like a prop. He's often in the thick of the ruck action. I've got no qualms about his playing there.

I'd have to agree with the Kiwis, not being starting forwards. They can only really last 20 mins before they are totally f**ked, and you need more than that from a starting prop.

I'd go with Williams and Ross as the starting props.

Maiva on the bench as a prop, Loo Loo as a backrower.

And Bailey, Thompson and Gallen in the back row. The problem remains though what to do with all the youngsters, we signed that supposedly, had management faith in them so we wern't going after Thompson in the first place.

FMFF its easier not to think about this sh*t, the more you think about it the more you get fuggen pissed off

I rekon Gallen for the #10. He has no ball playing skills, and an ideal 13 can at least throw a pass or two... Gallen was as much a ball hog as Bailey, which was no problem as he made amazing meterage, however he was not fulfilling his role as a lock, he was playing like a prop, and for that reason I say he's our best option.

If we get Thompson i think it will more than likely be with the idea of him playing prop. This would give us plenty more options with rotating the forwards. I would have a pack of:

8. Ross
9. Kinga
10. Thompson
11. Gallen
12. Bailey
13. Hilder

Hilder can move to 9 if kinga needs a rest. This allows for an extra forward on the bench instead of latu.
Thompson can drop back to the second row if they decide to give him lots of minutes.
Gallen can even slot into the front row if need be.

With a bench containing the likes of Maiava, Williams, Ciraldo, LooLoo, Manaua, Douglas i dont think we are looking as bad as is made out personnel wise. I think we are lacking one quality front rower which still would have been the case if nuts was here.

I think Latu could surprise a few members of this forum and be our starting hooker. He his after all a test player.

Really? So how come he was the leading offloader in the NRL for 2005?

What about that piece of sheer ballplaying magic that set Dykes up for a try early in 2005?

I don't dispute this. Waltzing in particular had big problems with maintaining his playing weight. Ciraldo was reportedly going to be given the rocket over it earlier this year - too small he was told.

With Weirdo I think his build is fine. It's more the filling out of the frame that is still to happen and will hold him back. We haven't seen it much as he hasn't been allowed to show it but Reece has a fantastic offload on him which I'd like to see developed in 2006. If he can beef up and get into the hard straight stuff we'll see big improvement in him IMOWINW

Good solid off season on the roids would fix that though.

A prop who can offload is also not a bad thing...

The occasional glimpse of ball playing ability doesn't mean he can ball-play

Doesn't mean he can't either. :)

I don't have an issue with him playing prop and didn't criticise that suggestion. I do believe you are selling him short on his actual abilities. Remember he was playing as instructed.
