i have to agree with your point on Albert, Frenzy.

If it came to push and shove I would prefer they dropped that pathetic player from ESL and give Toshio a full game at fullback.

I can't beleive a player blessed with Alberts speed gets out played by a slow coach(Covell) and a debutant(Laseni)

Both winger and fullback Frenzy. On one occasion on the 5th he had to be told to fall back for the kick any winger for fullback worth anything should know that.
I'm not saying he's a bad player I'm saying he's not up to NRL yet.

So what? Homer Simmons got 60 games of being babysat and told where and when to go.

As usual I'm gonna disagree with you all. I'm going to take it a step further as well. Stop looking for a centre, we've found one. Laiseni has centre written all over him.

Albert is blessed with blistering speed but doesn't seem to have much of a step. His speed has saved us a number of times this year. Gotta stick with him IMO. Bott didn't show much today.

Great run off Kimmorely in the centre of the park to set up Kinga for our only try.
He did make a few errors - true, but as pointed out by Frenzy his debut was made more testing. But his errors pale in contrast to Vaganas.

Very good point.

While everyone focusses on a scratchy debut by the $10 rookie no one is commenting on a FAR worse game by the $300k, 201 game veteran who has looked decidely disinterested since signing his Rabbit Retirement Bonanza.

Pity is it seems Albert is also cursed with a heart as big as Homer Simmons.

Give me 3 Covells.

I actually was thinking he'd make a good centre. Would make sense now but to play him in the centres in PL if he drops back.

He has the size and speed for it.

Yeh that could work Frenzy but I doubt anyone at the club would think of that though!!!!

AFAIC he was performing well BEFORE he was moved. I'll openly defy anyone who watched the first 20 minutes to say they weren't thinking "This kid looks OK" or "hey this might work out well". He easily looked his best when at the back.

Now to many want to scapegoat him when the whole team was ordinary to say the least. (not necessarily you Spider)

I understand what your saying Frenzy - but honestly, the team performance was more than ordinary to say the least, which made him stand out more. From the position i watched the game from he was not getting any better, which is a shame, but its a fact. I think it may have been more so a confidence factor as he proved himself to get the call up, but the flow of the game didnt help or enable him to come through it.

I wasn't at the game so this is only from what was shown on TV, but he was given a tough job which he didn't always deliver on. Wouldn't be the first "future star of our game" to have a shocker first up.

Personally I wouldn't drop him on that. He didn't cost us the game - there were mistakes just as bad made by players with 10+ years experience. Give him another chance and sort out with Albert where they'll both be playing (and get the halfbacks to play to that).

Twas a very average performance by the team and I'm another who didn't think he went too badly. I definately picked up on a couple of try saving tackles he made. That said, being moved from FB to wing and back again is definately going to play with your timing. I'v seen Simmons play better and I'v seen him play worse. I definately don't think Tosh should be dropped on that performance, the more time he has to set himself the more confident he will become.

I'd have to second the opinions of Frenzy and Sharkie73 that he would make a decent cente, good defensively and knows they way to the tryline.

As for Albert the Merkin, he is pissing me off more than ever. Is sh*t out of dummy half, poor reads in defence and was ABYSMAL under the high ball, the f**ker didn't even try to catch it when elford scored, he was trying to bat it back, as though thats a great percentage play  I absolutely refuse to believe we don't have a lower grade centre/wing ready to step up and take his spot. I WANT 3 COVELLS AS WELL!

For those keeping count that is his 6th game in a row he hasn't missed a goal. Thats 19 in a row and 23 from 24.

Makes the mind hark back to one E.T.

An abject failure as a fullback when he started and was in fact dropped.

We all know what happened.

Pity for Tosh then because he was scratchy but no where near as bad as some are making out. Especially when the tripe served up by some of the $$ cattle was as bad or worse.

Did the game actually have "flow" Spider?

They looked totally unsettled. Noddy and Addo swapping sides. Tosh and Albert swapping. All of a sudden a total change in the use of the interchange. Hilder expected to do a props job.

We're in a bit of deep sh*t IMO.

Toshio was a let down.
many of the boys had confidence in him and had the fullback down as first try scorer.
I think he will lift his game against the roosters, wouldnt want to see him get dropped

I must admit, I wasn't sitting in the best spot during the game to be able to watch Tosh closely. What I did see, was one dropped ball that will get remembered.

I wonder how many people saw him make a tackle that Simmons wouldn't have even got close to?

I also saw him sniffing around the ruck a lot. I saw someone get in his way off a ruck play off load also.

It's a bit harsh to call for his dropping after this week isn't it? Rapes didn't leave him at the back for any extended period from what I saw.

I must admit though, I'll need to catch the reply at 7.30 on fox to have a better look.. but it sounds very petulant to cry when a young and up and comer doesn't chuck a SBW in his first game.

Thats how I pretty much saw it.

Made 1 aweful error and got a bit lucky from one bomb he let bounce. Besides that he was OK. I think he may go alright now that he has got that 1st game under his belt

I thought he looked pretty good and have no idea why he was constantly moved out of position. The one thing I did notice was when he dived at the feet of the attacking players to secure that lose ball. I can't imagine some of our other players doing that at least it showed he had some guts

yes, because of ( in no particular order)

1. injuries
2. too many players out of form
3. too many postional changes
4. sh*thouse gameplan
5. some players natural flair being smothered
