The Eels are in Auckland and its just before a match against the Warriors. Jarryd Hayne goes into the changing room to find all his teammates looking a bit glum.
Whats up? he asks.
Well, were having trouble getting motivated for this game. We know its important, but, you know, its only the Warriors. Weve had a bad flight over here, and we cant really be bothered.
Hayne looks around at them, all so demotivated, and comes up with a plan.
Dont you worry boys, I reckon I can beat them by myself. You lads head to the local, have a few drinks and relax.
So Hayne goes out to play the Warriors by himself, and the rest of the Eels team head off.
After some time they wonder how the game is going, so they check the TV to see the score. A big cheer goes up as the screen reads Warriors 0 - Eels 6 (Try Hayne - 10 minutes; Conversion Hayne - 11 minutes).
He is actually winning all by himself! Pretty happy with that, the boys get back to their drinking.
About an hour or so later, Nathan Hindmarsh looks up from the pool table and says It must be full time now, lets see how he got on.
They check again.
Result from Mt Smart Stadium: Warriors 6 (Try Hohaia - 79 minutes; Conversion Seymour - 80 minutes ) Eels 6 (Try Hayne - 10 minutes; Conversion Hayne - 11 minutes).
They cant believe it, Hayne has single-handedly drawn against the Warriors!
They rush back to Mt Smart Stadium to congratulate him, but they find him in the dressing room, still in his gear, sitting with his head in his hands, extremely disappointed.
He refuses to look at them. Ive let you down, Ive let you down, he cries.
Dont be crazy, you got a draw against the Warriors, all by yourself. And they only scored at the very, very end! laughs Cayless.
No, no, I have, Ive let you all down I got sent off after 12 minutes
