In some big signing news for the Warriors, rising star David Fusitu'a has committed to the New Zealand-based club for a further three seasons

Fox Sports broke the news on twitter, reporting: "WARRIOR SIGNS LONG-TERM DEAL: @nzwarriors centre David Fusitu'a re-signs with the club until the end of the 2019 season."

This caps off a big week for the 22-year-old, having been named in the Kiwis Four Nationssquad.

Fusitu’a made his NRL debut in 2014, and has had his most intensive campaign this year appearing in 18 matches and scoring 11 tries to lift his career tally to 20 in 33 matches.

He also underlined his versatility by playing on the wing, in the centres and at fullback.

Great move. Would happily see him in any jersey from 1-5, he's probably at worst our second best player in any of those positions.

A future centre combination of Kata and Fusitu'a looks pretty good. Maybe a year of learning set up play outside Ayshford and then he can permanently move to the No.3 jersey..

Or if RTS goes to the All Blacks like he probably will in a couple of years, he can move into the #1 jersey.

Not discounting the fact that he is probably our best winger now too.

Credit to him for developing his game, rewind a couple of years and he couldn't string more than a couple of games together in FG

Yeah, that's the interesting thing, where is his long term future - took a big step up this year, maybe one season on the wing and then to centre?

Not sure why RTS is viewed as an inevitable AB, not a union fullback, does he really want to be a union wing

The All Blacks barring Caleb Ralph, have always had good outside backs. The Wallabies have had league players convert well in the outside backs but I cant recall the All Blacks ever having a league convert in their outside backs (SBW doesnt really count, as he was really a mid-field back and we all know hes not an outside back).

RTS just doesn't have the skill set for fullback in union for mine so at the moment it'd be wing and they're done a dozen. He needs to show more ball playing and kicking

ouch. no one else you can think of apart from ralph? did you lose some money or something thanks to him ...lol?

maybe this list will spark your memory. a few outside backs there that only played 1 or 2 tests and then were never to be seen again . the 900s onwards are probably names you recognise.

Nah with Caleb Ralph, it was just my opinion that he wasnt a good outside back for the All Blacks. Of all the All Black wingers, hes my worst. He had no speed, no step, nothing that wingers before him had. He just played a "starring" role in finishing off a very good Crusaders attack. Wasnt a star for the All Blacks though.

I was talking about the All Black outside backs (11, 14 and 15) and how none of them converted from professional league. Some of them played league as youngsters (e.g. Jonah Lomu, Tana Umaga) but I cant RECALL a professional league outside back go into the All Blacks as an outside back as were discussing with RTS if he did plan to go there.

He said so himself. And wouldn't a couple of years with us be enough to drive you into a new sport? His skill set is similar to Milner-Skudder, no reason he couldn't compete for a spot.

Good re-signing this one. Fus should be playing on the wing this year, given we have bugger all else in that position, and look to move him in during his next contract period. Not happy with much else in 2016 but his form was one bright spot - again was shunted all over the place by our stupor coach.

PW just gave you one.
pretty sure Milner-Scudder was with the bulldogs before going to union.

Yeah you must'nt have read the word professional league that Im sure I wrote on my post. I also CLEARLY mentioned players who played league before as juniors such as Tana and Jonah, I acknowedged that, but I meant professional as in more NRL top grade.

Also you misred PWs post. He wasnt GIVING me an example as you say. He was making comparisons with Skudder and RTS skill sets.

With all respect, you might be skim reading.

its all good. i know PW wasnt talking about NMK in relation to your earlier post about converts, but i had been scratching my head trying to think of a league to union convert and his mentioning of NMK in his response to you, reminded me that NMK had been playing with the Bulldogs in reserve grade before being lured to the Hurricanes. Not quite the example you were after but a better example than a junior like Umaga.
Its possible if Laumpape keeps progressing he might make a jump to the next level at Union too.
i dont see the Fish going much further in Union. He couldnt even keep his place in the Chiefs.

Yeah I shouldve just said NRL top grade rather than professional league player. I think you could class under 20 players as professionals because they get paid, so maybe theyre semi pros or just pros themselves?...not sure.

Yeah Laumape started off well for the Canes but Im not sure where he is right now. I forgot fish was at the Chiefs, I thought he was playing ESL.

Id say Matt Duffy is probably the closest right now to being the first but its unlikely at this stage. Who knows next year for the former Storm.

Thing is, NZ union dont need our backs going over there. We need THEIR backs coming over to help out NZ league. Anyone but RTS, I know its his aspirations but dam, that would be a big loss.
