In this whole discussion, it is interesting how a big argument against suburban grounds in the success of Parramatta at CommBank. When essentially hundreds of millions of dollars was spent replacing a suburban ground in the exact same location.

Parramatta are lucky the Wanderers were the flavour of the month at the right time, otherwise they could be in the same boat as the other Clubs.

This why panthers wanted to buy wanderers

How old are you? Your refusal to adapt to changing circumstances shows intellectual immaturity. You can’t be everything to everyone

As stated earlier, if the state government aren’t willing to pay for very good stadiums in every corner of the city and they are well within their rights to do so, considering there is no other city that I can think of that have done the same, what is the alternative? Charge ever increasing entry fees to games to dilapidated stadiums and then wonder why crowds remain stagnant

Like everything, people may be resistant to change, notwithstanding that change is warranted but like everything else people will eventually get over it. It happened with Melbourne with the AFL and it will happen here because there is little alternative.

Melbourne model doesn't work in Sydney. Our teams are spread across the city & no stadium can be truly central. The intracity rivalries are intertwined within the NRL. Just go with that

Again though if the state government isn’t going to pay for redevelopments of these stadiums then what is the alternative? I know that’s not what people want to hear but continually trying to get the government to continually redevelop every small ground in Sydney is not feasible long term. That is particularly the case if it is only going to be used by one tenant.

Another thing, are you suggesting that only people in the inner city follow AFL? They play in world class stadiums where it is most accessible to the most amount of people. That doesn’t mean that it is convenient for everyone.

Great when NRL is one of the four biggest sporting comps in the world with teams owned by billionaires, then each club can get an EPL stadium. Until then fans are happy with upgrades to local venues

You are stumbling upon the point there. The only way the other Sydney clubs are going to reach Parra or Souths’ financial strength and getting broad support across the city is by actually playing in modern stadiums.

Bizarre conclusion. Support for these clubs nothing to do stadiums. Roosters playing out of sfs from its creation but never helped with support

Premier won't last the week

Sure. The Premier won’t lose his job over this. Particularly if the argument is framed around money for stadiums or money for flood affected regions. Yes, there is money for both but that’s how the issue will be framed.

Even if the Premier loses his job at the election, votes will be won and lost by issues like hospitals, transport, schools and jobs, not football stadiums

Melbourne clubs all intercity. Their supporter bases are spread out through the greater city. NRL clubs represent specific areas. Just different scenario. EPL is closest comparison for Sydney with stadiums allover the place. Yes, EPL is super rich but NRL doesn't need fancy stadiums

Really? So Cronulla are a financial powerhouse then? Manly as well?

A large part of their problem is that they play at substandard stadiums located in difficult parts of Sydney to get to and have never attempted to broaden their support across Sydney.

So? Maybe unlike certain Sydney clubs they realised that broadening their support is actually important. Nothing is stopping Cronulla or Manly from trying to get broad support across the city other than a lack of ambition. In any case, they might even have more support than they actually think.

In any case, every other professional sporting competition has realised that in order to grow you need to be playing in modern facilities. Whatever example you use, EPL or AFL, they don’t play in dilapidated stadiums and once again if the State Government is not going to pay for every club to have their own individual stadium then what is your solution?

Ha - just other teams that exist & cover the remaining areas of Sydney.

How much money does panthers LC takea year? No one’s suggesting building an Etihad or tottenham stadium lol.

We’ve only really got sharks, manly, panthers and dragons to sort out in sydney. Tigers and dogs should move to commbank ft. Hopefully panthers get their stadium. South and dragons sydney games to SFS.

So basically spend proper money on shark park and manly ($200 mill each) take to 20k undercover seats and a new stand and screen at wollongong ($100mill) presuming penrith goes ahead, that’s the city sorted without pssing money away half arsed doing things.

will mean some clubs remain poor cousins but that’s the nature of over saturating a city with clubs.

and yet we made 40 million plus in profits & they still lost 40 million plus spending less on grass roots & its clubs

throw up all the propaganda you want , we're flogging em.
Thank you Peter the great.. thank you. 😎
Which has absolutely nothing to do with the discussion, nice deflection though!
