New Penrith stadium could have Tigers Bulldogs play 2 games each a year vs out off Sydney teams. Better then the out off Sydney teams playing at Accor In front off 10 000 fans. As if the tigs an dogs dont have fans out that way also. Being 2 games each most likely draw 15000 to 20000 thousand each game. Its all about atmosphere .

That strikes me as grasping for straws.

If Souths move games (even just a few) to the new SFS, then the powers that be will do their darndest to try and keep the Bulldogs at the Olympic stadium, lest it become a white elephant.

As for the Tigers.. Gees.. they have enough on their plate trying to cater to the Leichardt crowd, the Campbelltown/Southwest supporters, trying to get some more money from games at Parramatta's new stadium.. and you want them to throw Penrith stadium into the home-ground mix as well?!? As Natalie Imbruglia would say, "They're already torn..." ;)

So who should get one?
no one should get a 600 million 30K seater if they're the only tenants
600 million spent on 6 grandstands joining existing ones at
Penrith
Manly
& Cronulla
, turning the last 2 into 20K all seaters & Penrith a 25K all seater is a more
" appropriate" plan..

those 3 clubs are on the outer fringes & will never share stadiums anywhere else

Bulldogs , Tigers mainly at commbank.. mainly..
with Parra there ofc
some accor for the dogs , some campbelltown for the tigers
maybe a heritage game at leichardt on a sunday arvo

Roosters / Souths at the sfs
Dragons 6 at the sfs all sydney opponents ( maybe a heritage game @ kogarah on a sunday arvo , 6 at the gong

its not perfect , nothing in life ever is ...
but its the best plan under the present circumstances

Announced what? That they reneged or postponed their future funding? The major stadiums have multiple tenants and that is what governments spend money on. They aren’t going to spend money on nine individual suburban grounds and if the alternative to the SFS or similar is something like Leichhardt Oval I don’t blame them.
With a city of 6 mil and multiple rectangular sporting codes

There will always be a need to maintain or upgrades venues across the city

There are stands that are nearly 50y old that need to be addressed

Leichhardt Oval stand, Brooky main grandstand are two obvious older RL upgrades. And these were older than the SFS

You just cant fence off these public assests

Just like roads and bridges are upgraded

Stuff best plans. Why should Penrith be shafted to benefit the Shire or the North Shore!
Penrith deserve a stadium more than any other club in the NRL.
The argument that only one tenant means you cant justify a new stadium is rubbish.
You can’t get commitment to events without a venue but you can’t get that venue unless you get commitment to events.
By this measure there will never be a new stadium built in NSW!

Yep, a definite meltdown

Even if they did it wouldn’t be because of the reason you said as that situation hasn’t changed since the initial announcement.

Your argument about Penrith (I’m presuming) and the potential discontinuation of that funding doesn’t disprove what I said: that it is unlikely that the government would.fund massive amounts on stadiums with only one tenant.

The only reason that Penrith as a one stadium tenant got that level of funding was pork barrelling pure and simple and the amount of criticism that the government has received for that decision means that it is unlikely to do it again.

So where do they get a second tenant?
They can't

Other NRL clubs won't move to Penrith

None of the existing Sydney A-League clubs will move to Penrith (maybe the odd Wanderers game but move? No)

A-League expansion is a long shot too - they have tons of OTHER expansion options that offer more - Canberra, 2nd Perth team, 2nd Queensland based team, Woolongong, heck even NZ 2.. that would be ahead of Penrith. Heck in the slim chance that a 4th Sydney team leapfrogs other expansion candidates, it's likely it'd be either north of the Harbour or possibly that southern Sydney bid that missed out last time. Population dictates it.

Then there's Super Rugby. Umm.. nope. Australia has enough trouble filling the existing teams with talent, and if NSW rugby wanted another team at that level then the North Shore or Parramatta would surely be their pick of a base.. with Newcastle the outside chance.

TL : DR version - Penrith really doesn't offer anything to potential co-tenants. Elsewhere is more lucrative.
