It's great for the Eels but doesn't quite sit right that the Tigers are lining their pockets by taking home games next door.
As someone said, maybe Wests Ashfield with their squillions can by a pub or bar nearby. Or maybe the RSL club down the road.

Not playing at an awesome new stadium because someone else might benefit is a bit cutting off your nose to spite your face

Corporate Boxes. The location of these in the current SFS is horrendous. They need to be along the sideline, not the ends of grounds. These was a massive oversight (probably putting the members ahead of this consideration) with the original plans, and it limited revenue generation.

It wasn’t so much an oversight originally but a costs issue. The whole stadium was built on the cheap because there was no govt money.

Anzac Day, Wallabies & Sydney Aleague derby as the only 3 games.

NRL finals
A League finals
Waratahs finals
Roosters v Souths

Roosters should be aiming for 3 regular season crowds a year above 30k.
NRL should be aspiring to have no finals match ever draw less than 30k.

If you're only looking backwards at past crowds then this whole stadium thing is pointless anyway.

And who knows, a new stadium looking for content, 15 years later maybe Souths will be enticed back to the SFS. They're a long way from the club in 2006 that couldn't pull a crowd.

The finals aren’t guaranteed to occur. There’s potential, but there’s also another stadium that can host them.

Roosters V Souths last year at Allianz got 15,000.

On a Thursday. Even Broncos had their crowd slashed in half on Thursday just last night.

44,000 Roosters v Souths in the finals last year. (And dont suggest Roosters and the other 3 coastal clubs should play their finals out west)
And this year it got 24,000 at a far inferior stadium.
25,000 in 2016.
25,000 in 2015.
32,000 in 2014.

Swings and roundabouts but really 30k should be the benchmark for that game going forward, with a new stadium and improved transport. Ditto for our games v Dragons, Tigers, Bulldogs if both clubs are performing well.

Also not to mention the coaches boxes were the size of a matchbox.

Only issue is that the nearest pub to the ground is the Royal Oak Hotel which is on Church Street. In December of this year they will start construction of the Parramatta Light Rail, and it goes right past the front of the hotel (as it goes up Church Street).

Will the much more used patronage of the stadium see more bars and eateries open up in the area? Sounds a good business opportunity.

Here’s what I don’t get, ANZ stadium isn’t really out west. Geographically it’s still in the Eastern half of the city. If people can’t travel that far for a finals game we should pack this thing up now.

30,000 should be the benchmark, but we all know it won’t be. Sydneysiders are largely apathetic about sport, we need to be realistic. Games getting over that amount will be few and far between.

Now al of this is a bit pointless, the ground is very likely going to be 45,000. That’s why we must ensure it has the club mode. Why did the roosters sign a 25 year agreement before the club mode was in place? Lost a bargaining chip there.

If you like Indian food you’ll be especially sorted
Love a good Bhaji!

Read yesterday that Souths and Bulldogs are negotiating their ANZ contracts. Didn't say if it was for the refurbishment period or long term. Hopefully they are both bailing out to move to WSS!
