Honestly mate , the negativety can get a bit much.

Let's see how it is before we decide , there's always Parra for the smaller games.

True, I may be wrong and 20k in a 75k with 55k lit up seats may work a treat. or the NRL may have got serious about building crowds by the time it is finished. Lets see as you say

Cant wait to see the Parra stadium finished, hopefully the eels can get themselves in a position to maximise its, and their, potential

Pretty good result for the game that.

For a city that regularly holds domestic and international games of League, Union, and Football, it's a near travesty that it doesn't have an exisiting 65,000+ capacity facility of world class standard. That was the most important thing that needed to be rectified.

$40 million in new training facilities funding could probably stretch to about 4-5, maybe 6 clubs. Not bad.

Or have the final of the rugby league World Cup in 2017 as the last ever game at the olympic stadium and Australia's chance to break the international crowd record for RL set in 2013 at old Trafford.

Nah, Suncorp is the safer bet for a big final.

ANZ would be good for the Opening Ceremony and a DoubleHeader like they did in Cardiff for the 2013WC.

The 'intimate' mode they have in Vancouver is very low tech and works well. I was watching the Rugby 7s on tv there recently and it looked pretty good.

This is decidedly more high-tech so who knows how it will go. But I am confident that it'll work pretty well based upon how it's been evolving in North American stadiums. The plans for the 'intimate mode' in the new Atlanta stadium look pretty good, for example.

The nrl should be pushing for a stake in the olympic park ground, manage rights etc... similar to what the suns got at carrara

.

You can expect co-investment from the ARLC and local councils (theyll be bidding amongst themselves to house teams) to stretch this out to $80m.

This is a great way to keep the suburban traditions of the game while dealing with the reality that stadiums need to be accessable and of a high standard.

The Bulldogs >ANZ/Belmore and Souths > ANZ/Redfern model should be used in some form by all teams.

Good for the game

so i wonder if we have to play any SFS games.
im not against taking 1 or 2.

as for our ground, we will have to self fund any improvements.

oh, and the ACT....we aren't gunna do shit about a stadium whilst the light rail thing is happening

Vote Labor out @ the next elections
The Libs will cancel the light rail project if they win freeing up 700 million
Meaning they'll be money for our Stadium:cool:

Really like the idea of the intimate mode. Whole ANZ project looks pretty good actually.

Will be interesting to see what kind of impact it has on ticket prices.

Yet another indication of the size of win here for Rugby league.

Although I would count Katie Page as a RL person.

I didnt realise how stacked against league that board is. And why does it take 15 of them to form a board, is it just jobs for the boys? Whats the normal size of corporate boards.

Would love to have seen the look on their faces when their little game failed hahaha

HOW WILL ANZ STADIUM BE TRANSFORMED?
The $800 million renovation will see the entire seating bowl replaced, with the pitch to be dropped three metres while the furthest seat moves in 48 metres. Work will begin on the eastern grandstand in 2019, with ANZ Stadium likely to stagger construction over four years to ensure its busiest schedule is during the summer months. While capacity will be reduced, it won't have fewer than 45,000 seats at a match. The NRL is unlikely to play Origin and grand finals at the venue during construction, with Brisbane firming to host the first grand final away from Sydney in the history of the sport. Capacity at ANZ Stadium will be reduced from 83,000 to 75,000.

The ARU is fine with ANZ being the premier stadium as they only want to play Bledisloes there, and any potential future World Cup finals. They've already moved all non-Bledisloe internationals back to Moore Park. There will be no objection on their part.

It does pose an interesting question as to where the big matches will be during the re-build. Origin will almost certainly revert to Allianz, but the Grand Final? Suncorp seems obvious - I'm not so sure. The Victorian government has never seen a sporting event that they don't want to steal from another state. If they offer big cash to take the GF to the MCG for a year or two and if they offer to fund a week of festivities like they AFL have then it will be hard for the NRL to say no.

Any deal struck with the Victorian government would have toinvlude funding for NRL Victoria like when they asked for an Origin a year with 6 figures going to grassroots and the NRL said no.

I'd go to the MCG to watch the granny.

Webster continues to be a knob over this issue. He doesnt seem to co.prehend that homebush and parra is much more accessible for most rugby league fans coming from north, south, east or west than moore park ever could. Especially when the new road and rail infastructure kicks in. He and the SCGT are the only people unhappy with the solution and note the trust includes union, cricket and afl big hitters. The SFS has great site lines and sufficient facilities to cater for the majority of its crowds in all codes, it is justifably last in the pecking order for refurbishment. All it really needs to be transformed into an enclosed arena to be complete
