The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

Andrew Webster is a union guy through & through.

Eastern Suburbs to boot.

His article was rambling nonsense , at no point does he address how a 55k stadium at Moore Park benefits rugby league.

Now, he's cost the city a once-in-a-lifetime chance to build the best rectangular stadium in the world – the same stadium he trumpeted in September last year.

Baird completed the backflip on Thursday when he announced that ANZ Stadium will now receive most of $1.6 billion allocated for a new stadium network to ensure Sydney has "the best rectangular stadium in the southern hemisphere".

Doesn't quite have the same ring to it, does it?

Baird's meaningless rhetoric isnt up to scratch??

I agree wit webster, scrap the whole thing..... ](*,)

HOW WILL ANZ STADIUM BE TRANSFORMED?
The $800 million renovation will see the entire seating bowl replaced, with the pitch to be dropped three metres while the furthest seat moves in 48 metres. Work will begin on the eastern grandstand in 2019, with ANZ Stadium likely to stagger construction over four years to ensure its busiest schedule is during the summer months. While capacity will be reduced, it won't have fewer than 45,000 seats at a match. The NRL is unlikely to play Origin and grand finals at the venue during construction, with Brisbane firming to host the first grand final away from Sydney in the history of the sport. Capacity at ANZ Stadium will be reduced from 83,000 to 75,000.

Although QLD is our enemy during SOO, the NRL Grand final should be given to our equal shareholder in the game which is QLD.

Do the right thing NRL, give the GF to QLD.

this is awesome news! i'm very happy that anz stadium is going to be a proper rectangular stadium. anz stadium is the right location for the biggest sydney stadium. it will be the rabbitohs home for a long long time, and i am very happy about that. i am also glad that the sfs is getting a retractable roof too. the new parra stadium will be great for the eels, wanderers, and maybe some panthers games

Brooky looks awesome on TV
People everywhere .

It makes you want to be a part of it.

Whereas .....?

No it didn't, it looked exactly what it was, an antiquated ground with people sat on grass hills that couldn't hold many more than the small (relatively speaking for a top tier sport) amount of people that turned up.

Imagine someone from another country tuning in and seeing that, what do you think their perception of the status of RL is?

Given there's no need to wait for parra to be finished , because they're keeping ANZ open during construction , hopefully we can see an earlier start date than 2019.

End of 2017 GF would be perfect , but you'd think they could definitely start at the end of 2018 GF.

Even end of 2017 is 16months prep , you'd think that'd be enough time. Unless it's purely a money issue?

If they tune and don't like it...then maybe they should not watch it then ?

Which wouldn't happen though...because it looked awesome.
Looked like a party.

Parking need improving but hopefully not in the $400m budget.

But you can get a lot done for $400m , it should be an excellent stadium once done.

That area doesn't need to incentivise more cars entering the area. The joint is a major thoroughfare from the eastern suburbs.

Public transport is more imperative. Obviously something needs to be done because lazy merkins these days are afraid to walk continousky for 20mins like folks once used too.

Interestingly the ARU media release suggests the stadium would be finished by 2021 but implies the first of the ten guaranteed Bledisloe Cup games would be 2022. Assuming this is based on more than the ARU press officer's intuition suggests a planned completion date around Q4 2022 given Bledisloe is played August/September.

Meanwhile if the 75k capacity is achieved it would be the third biggest covered stadium in the workd after the planned new LA Rams stadium in California and the existing AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas. I'm not counting the showpiece Qatari World Cup stadium because it will be reduced to 20k after the cup.

That'll teach roosters, union and FC to whinge about having to temp. relocate lol.

Look forward to visiting the new parra stadium when finished.

Does the NRL get its money back it loaned for the Allianz project scoping now?

And where did you expect those clubs to play home matches for a couple of years?

Besides, their issue was more about a lack of confidence about the process. They were led to believe one thing Ayres, when it was also pie in the sky shit.

This decision will make sense if they also decide to make Olympic park station more than an off track pit stop; they need it to be an actual link between Parra and Burwood stations

Had to have a laugh when the showed the Warraths running out to a packed stadium! hahah

Yeah, I love the Tahs, but even for our once in 20 year Super Rugby GF we couldn't fill it up - only 61k. The atmosphere was pretty awesome for that 61k, but it just goes to show you how weak the support for the team is.

Looking at the vid though I'm pretty sure that was the Blues...
