Time for the NRL to grow a set and have the GF in Brisbane. Sydney has had its chance and the whole stadium situation has been a debacle. In 2020, our game shouldn’t be played on cricket ground.
They don’t play cricket at Bankwest

One would imagine with the ANZ redevelopment on hold till the SFS is finished that the Grand Final would stay at ANZ till then.
Is there any official word on what exactly is happening with Anz?
Wasn’t it supposed start it’s refurb after The Origin game played there?

Haven't seen anything official but Cumberland Throw mentioned it had been shelved till after the SFS on the page before this one.

NRL Grand Final could return to ANZ Stadium for 2020
By Marc Churches

The NRL Grand Final could return to ANZ Stadium instead of the SCG as originally planned.

It was announced last year the 2020 grand final would be played at the SCG with ANZ Stadium planned to be under construction at the time.

Despite being months ahead of schedule, the project at Moore Park, which has provided over 800 jobs during a time of economical complex, won't be available until 2022.

With the coronavirus outbreak forcing the league to reschedule the grand final for October 25, the location for the game's biggest day has remained clouded as the T20 cricket World Cup gets set to cause a number of planning disruptions.

But according to Nine News Sydney's Chris O'Keefe, an ANZ stadium grand final could be on the cards with the NSW government now on the verge of holding the allocated $800 million for the redevelopment.

"Across town (Homebush), no contracts have been signed and money hasn't been allocated," O'Keefe told Nine News.

"The government is now looking at saving the $800 million on the redevelopment of ANZ stadium and temporarily mothballing the project.

"That way Sydney will have a showpiece stadium big enough to host the NRL Grand Final and State of Origin this year and thwart Brisbane snatching the games.

"The Premier had planned for bulldozers to move in at ANZ and turn it into a rectangle at the end of June.

"Gladys Berejiklian (NSW Premier) is yet to make a final decision because she sees construction as the best way out of economic destruction."

Scrap it and spend $600mill building two Bankwests for Dragons/Sharks & Tigers/Bulldogs to play in.They can use the spare $200mill for a sick childrens project or some other vote winner. Much better outcome for NRL.

No reason the Tigers and Bulldogs can't use Bankwest.

No there isnt, but a new stadium for SW Sydney in the Liverpool area would be a better outcome for both clubs fans wouldnt it? With NRL revenue reducing it is going to be vital for clubs to finally embrace their fanbases and start to ramp up the revenue potential fans can bring.

Building a new stadium in a place with no team, so Tigers and Bulldogs can further split their home game allocations just to put a few games there, destroys any remaining justification for a new stadium being built ten minutes away from anz(five minutes when the new line is built). Wasn't that meant to be the venue for those teams to move some of their lesser drawing games? There's no logic with this stadium plan. So expect the Liberals to build another in Liverpool and just like Parra refuse to release the data on the economic benefit.

Where would you put it? The benefit with Bankwest is its a transport hub.

Bankwest was an ideal location for the stadium, I do not see any reason for another to be built in Liverpool though. I could agree with a stadium for the Dragons and Sharks to share.

Bigge park, right next to Liverpool station?

The fact neither the Bulldogs or Tigers are going to make Bankwest their home suggests their is.

Ideally you want at least three Ft tenants to get a good return on stadium spend. Aleague (presuming it survives) sharing each of the two new stadiums alongside 2 permanent NRl clubs is whats needed.

But that would take away tenants from Bankwest leaving them with only 2. So ruins its return, The Tigers are using it as a home ground?

Context...its more a garden. Adjacent to Hospital and TAFE.

You want it at Whitlam corner of Hoxton Park Dr and Hume Hwy.

How about building where the biggest RL nursery in the world is - Penrith. Better justification than Narellan having a big population.
