Penrith is further from Parramatta than Parra is from SFS. The Western Sydney label is so vague and meaningless not even government institutions can agree what it is exactly. So using your logic boony Parra never should have gotten a stadium in the first place.

Also Parra to ANZ will be a five minute trip in the next few years because of the metro. Surely spending 360 mil so Eels and that dying a league club can save five minutes is a lot worse than making sure Penrith fans, I don’t know, not get heat stroke?

Heat stroke in Winter?

Australia shaping as favourites for the 2027 Rugby World Cup. Can only be a good thing for sports infrastructure spending.

Not sure it is. Like last time we hosted the World Cup, it was spread around Australia. Plenty of places have facilities that are more than adequate. At best a local club might get upgraded training/playing grounds for international teams to use. That's it.

Not much happened last time, did it? If we ever get the men’s soccer World Cup, we’ll get BankWest-type stadia around the country. Maybe even your garden variety Allianz type in Melbourne? We can dream.

now that was the original plan/deal when we had 2 billion worth of stadiums being built & upgraded

thats been scrapped
the NSW govt can go eat a d..k if they think we will give up 40K fans attending our GF , just so they can have their new little eastern suburbs waste of tax payer money playhouse host one of our marquee events

For the lucky 50,000 that got tickets it would be a far superior experience watching a GF at the new SFS than at ANZ. But yeh the NRL wont lock out 30k paying fans.

It was one of the driving factors behind Newcastle getting rebuilt. They were so dirty in the Hunter that they missed out on the tourism dollars by not hosting due to the stadium being so shit that they actually pushed hard to get the ground upgraded.
