Can't find the clip now, but they definitely said it.

The press conference I thought the quote was in seems to have been edited down, and I can't find the full version anymore.

I wish I saved it, but it doesn't really matter though because for a team that's meant to be a big Brisbane team one game played at Dolphins stadium and/or Sunshine Coast is one too many.

Now technically this is what they are planning, but it doesn't mean it is in 2023, maybe by 2025-26, this grandstand is built or extending the capacity by Another 5k down the track, with 9-10 suncorp games a year till then... so we'll have to see this time next year... place a pin in it

Missing the point, in your scenario there are both parra and penrith still existing, the bears are not... lets say parra doesn't exist in top flight, and there wasn't a team servicing the city of parramatta, would you choose penrith to move there at bankwest, or another team... currently there is no presence in the north shore or northern suburbs period.. manly is the closest, yet its facilities are rundown, and doesn't attract many fans other than passionate locals, every club should be able to attract away fans especially ones that live in the same city of Sydney

Until union is 100% dead and league is the only option, the north shore just isn't interested in league.

You're barking up the wrong tree simply by looking at a map and finding an empty area.

If that is true, it is a massive joke of a decision and the franchise should never have been given a licence in the first place. All games by Brisbane teams should always be played at Suncorp unless they build another stadium that has a capacity of 30K+ somewhere else in Brisbane.

We are meant to be the premier sport in both NSW and QLD, but you wouldn't know it with the micro ambition shown by so many of our leaders.
But this is the point, they are not a Brisbane team. Its like saying the Central Coast is a Sydney team or the Gold Coast is a Brisbane team! The are representing all the area North of Brisbane (Sunshine Coast, MBRC and further), its another team in SE QLD. They will only use Lang Park in the interim, not long term, that's not their base.

they'll " probably" play 7 games at suncorp

thats when they've redone their stadium at Redcliffe & Sunshine coast is also redone & both have acceptable capacities.
ATM they don't
The redos are years away

It'll be Suncorp
like sensible people are saying in here

problem is you then have to find funding for two not one stadium! and will the balmain end of town travel to Campbelltown for games? Looking at the attendances there in recent years it wouldn’t appear so.

Well it's the same as the Wests end to Leichhardt - the lack of true home identity and on-field performance has contributed a lot to poor crowds. Mark that in with the big drawing teams not really visiting Campbelltown (we get Manly next year with Newcastle and the Warriors. Last year Leichhardt got Souths, next year it gets Parramatta).

The attendance can also be drawn to scheduling times and the hefty fees - the Bulls even conducted a survey as to why their crowds were low and a lot of fans indicated the price for tickets.

For mine, the ideal situation would be a complete rebuild and update of both Campbelltown & Belmore, and Liverpool can move on by.

My point exactly, so put a stadium in the middle that all fans can easily reach, ie Liverpool! Reality is Campbelltown and Belmore are not getting $400mill plus they need spent on them and Leichardt certainly isnt, but a joint stadium may just be doable. The alternative is wests stay nomads and dont grow and Bulldogs either keep playing out of shty ANZ or move permanent to Commbank which is a fair trek for their fans.

Nah dude, just making manly (the club) branch out a bit, plus get thier stadium more centralised to transport, being close to a train station easily makes away fans accessible, hell even eagles fans who don't live in the northern beaches would be able to get to a game if they were more accessible around Chatswood/Gordon area..
Besides you're all about talking north shore, im talking about NORTHERN suburbs, that whole region between north ryde to hornsby
I grew up in north ryde, we had either the bears or the tigers, now no one... and roosters shit is everywhere, might aswell support the broncos, manly can litterally swoop in broaden their backyard, i just think its better idea if they weren't confined at Brookvale

Parra stadium should have never been rebuilt. Should have been done at Olympic park. That’s where the metro west is gonna have a stop at which goes right through Parra, the areas surrounding Leichardt and services much of the Bulldogs and Souths fans that live through out the centre of Sydney but nooooo. The eels and a poor dying soccer club that regularly lies about their 5k crowds and pretends it’s close to 20k would had to have travelled five minutes east. Now we’re gonna spend another 400mil because surprise surprise two of the clubs that would have other been satisfied hate Parramatta and going there and would rather Liverpool. This is all money that could have been used sooner actually having a spread of stadiums that recognises that Sydney isn’t just the harbour bridge and some areas 30 minutes west of it and also having a national rectangular 80k stadium with a retractable roof.

This stadiums plan is an unmitigated expensive disaster.

Parra Stadium was a fine stadium before the rebuild (as was SFS). I was a supporter of putting all the money into ANZ.

Heavily disagree - Western Suburbs have been in Campbelltown since 1986, not Liverpool. Yes, their junior system is based around Hillier Oval, but there's not much of a footprint at all. Canterbury has little to no association with the area either, aside from the land owned.

A shared ground "in the middle" just isn't feasable when, as I've said, you have a perfectly good ground at Campbelltown that can also attract council funding (reigning mayor is an avid soccer fan and supporter of the Bulls) as well as the FFA and CBS Viacom to make it look attractive on their networks, alongside the NRL. Why build somewhere else for a team where it will be more difficult to attract fans via public transport when there's so many facilities around Campbelltown? If Wests want profit, they need to hard-ball council and get a deal like the Bulls have (75k running fee vs $1 running fee) and demand the NRL bring one marquee team to the ground each season (South Sydney, Sydney Roosters, Dragons).

omg haha , you're an idiot
gold coast is 80kms from brisbane , redcliffe is 40kms
Thanks you walked into that and just proved my point - Sunshine Coast is 105km, Caboolture is 50km, Redcliffe is the closet point to Brisbane but still 40km outside of Brisbane, just like the region the club is representing, the area north of Brisbane.

The Titans representing the Gold Coast is the same distance away from Brisbane as the Dolphins representing MBRC and the Sunshine Coast and up.

That would alienate half the tigers fanbase from attending, costs at least twice as much as having one new stadium for both clubs and you’d still end up with two stadiums that werent anywhere near the quality of a commbank. It makes no sense for the tigers to move to Campbelltown fulltime so the only option is stay as is for both clubs or bite the bullet centralise and get a you beaut commbank stadium to enjoy nrl in For the two of the games clubs that have real potential to grow to 20k crowds if
they play in a new easy to reach stadium.

im sure if someone from Redcliffe is in London and gets asked where they live, they say brisbane lol. It’s an outer suburb in the brisbane metro region. When you throw in the clubs fanbase will need to come from a broad area of brisbane if they are going to get a decent following it makes even less sense to consider them a purely Redcliffe club.

ps I see that Storm have extended their partnership deal with the falcons. Obviously the sunshine coast isnt that fussed about ThE Dolphins.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the plan may be to move the Rabbitohs (to new SFS) AND Bulldogs (to new Liverpool stadium) out of ANZ Stadium to make it a tenant-less white elephant.

Then when ANZ Stadium/NSW Govt ask "Why don't you play at ANZ more often?", the NRL/clubs can reply, "OK, but first fix the grandstands, secondly make it easily configurable between 30k-ish club mode and 80k big game mode"
