To make any of these value for money they need to have capacity to host non sporting events.
Not sure what people were expecting the more kitchens, bathrooms etc the higher the cost
Not sure you get that at the current site especially if you only can keep the 2 Stands going forward

Would this site have been actually close to the airport though? How easy would it have been to get to this site? Would there have been a transport link to get there? You also would have wanted a much bigger stadium to get big events

What a load of crap!
So instead of a new 25-30k stadium it will be a half arsed upgrade with less capacity than it already has! All because we had a Penrith v Parramatta GF?
A new stadium on the Paceway site is the best way to go. Anything else is just a way out for the government.
Campbelltown should get nothing as they only play 4 games a year there, Cronulla can’t get funding as it is a privately owned ground, and Brookvale and West Tigers already got funding for their CoEs.

Penrith gets shafted again!
Campbelltown has the Macarthur Bulls in the A-League doesn't it.

It's get about 13 home games out of them.

Haha so rugba league., slapping lipstick on pigs and still nowhere near having fit for purpose modern stadia after spending $300mill. Our game is so backwards.

“Under the proposal, which has reached senior ministerial level, the government would upgrade Penrith Stadium rather than doing a full rebuild on the adjacent harness racing club site.

The money saved would be used to upgrade suburban grounds, enabling the NRL to save face and deliver a result to the clubs. In return, the NRL would commit to holding the grand final in Sydney for the next 10 years.”
So Vlandys gets what he wants eh clown ?
I never doubted he wouldn't

only a court jester would think one club benefitting from one venue would be better then 4 clubs benefitting from 4 considerably better venues having 500 mill, not 300 .. spent on them

back to the circus tent for you image7009191x.jpg

30 min drive.

Between now and 2035. Expected to grow by the population of Adelaide
Certainly will need some kind of major events centre out here

Maybe they upgrade the existing stands certainly won't be anything special
That would be pointless

it’s either a brand new stadium or don’t bother

commbank today would cost 400 million with the escalation in building costs and that’s how it should look

I suspect given it’s a marginal seat they will still spend around 300 million and get close to commbank at the current site

the liberals aren’t doing Penrith’s ground for the benefit of the nrl or the panthers

Are Penrith paying for these ground upgrades? Yeah didn’t think so.

You’re not providing anything.
If this goes ahead instead of a state of the art stadium at Penrith they get a half arsed upgrade and the money gets spent on other upgrades then they are providing the funds for them!

Nope it was to have a quality venue for the huge growing population, To save trips into Sydney

Even if they plan to build an indoor arena for concerts etc, Qudos Bank Arena cost $200m for the Sydney Olympics. Double that now
Atleast doing the Stadium gave them a Tennant
