The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

Penrith Football Stadium ain't too bad compared to some of the shitholes in Sydney. It just needs a roofed stand at one of its goaline ends and a massive video screen at the other end to be presentable. Maybe fix amenities and improve corporate suites.
Perhaps cure all known diseases while they are at it?

Who cares if its pork barreling, a one team venue or wont get filled initially? Its a new stadium for another NRL club for the next 50 years, tick another one off the list of clubs that need somewhere decent to play. Just need to get Souths to Allianz and we are down to just 7 clubs out of 17 needing modern stadiums:
Sydney: St's, Manly, Cronulla, Tigers and Canterbury.
Other: Canberra, Auckland

Ever heard of OzTam?

It measures television ratings in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney because there's only five metropolitan markets that the main television networks operate in.

We don't have an NRL team in two of these markets.

2 / 5 X 100 = 40%

The talent pool is not strong enough to support what you're advocating.

There's not enough rugby league fans in Sydney to support nine NRL clubs. It's why their earnings from football operations are so small. If an interstate team struggled to the same extent then there would be howls from Sydney to cull them.
Lucky for everyone Oztam is not a criteria metric

Otherwise we would not have Newcastle, Gold Coast, Canberra, Auckland or Nth Qld in the NRL

But adding CC Bears will bring in all of those northern Sydney lost Day of our Lives viewers and uplift those Oztam rating in the biggest Metro market

A few yrs ago the top tv $ markets were IIRC in order ( don’t know about now)
Syd
Melb
Bris
Regional NSW
Regional qld
perth
Adelaide.

this potato is going on raw population numbers .
not on Ad revenue .

Wookie would know far more than me if he can swallow his bile at the thought of posting in this thread again .
There was a study way back which showed when it came to the breakdown of sports advertising in Australia that 60 percent was in rugby league areas

higher ad rates were the explanation

so regional nsw was obviously more valuable than Adelaide

maybe a solution is to make regional nsw and qld seperate states so we can dominate the stupid OzTAM system

80-90% of media advertising (depending on which report you read) is spent in metro markets. so its pretty unlikely either nsw or qlnd regional advertising is worth more than WA given not dissimilar populations and WA peoples disposable income levels (WA sits just behind ACT as having the largest disposable income rate of any state), and that only 10% of advertising spend is across all regional Australia.

In 2022 FTA metro tv advertising was $1.3billion, regional FTA $327k

Adelaide is a different kettle of fish all together when we talk about readiness and value of an NRL club. Hence why they are probably at least ten - twenty years away (if ever) from having one.

Sad to say he’s going to get one soon

I think they could even announce it this year for a 2025 or 26 start

as much as I favour other places adding brisbane two and Perth is a major move by vlandys

that legacy will be felt for a decade after he’s gone

I am not so sure, He seems big on getting a good 2nd tier system. Perth will take longer than 3 years to sort that out

This post is akin to me praising my teams coach and his legacy by stating they have won the 2023 GF.

good, would make my march-september's a lot less stressful.
The amount of anger and frustration I feel during those months drives me up the wall. Some of it caused by the club not reaching its potential, but much of it caused by the backwards ARLC and its Sydney-centric agenda.

Without OzTam we wouldn't receive so much money from the broadcasters. The OZtam ratings determine the value of a 30 second television advertisement.

AwFuL is shitting on us because they get strong ratings in three markets with a niche following in the other two. We have a strong following in two and a niche supporter base in one. So they win 5 to 3.

Melbourne (AwFuL) and Sydney (NRL) pretty much cancel one another out as they're roughly the same size. Ditto for Brisbane (NRL) and Perth (AwFuL). Adelaide gives AwFuL the edge alongside the niche following fumbleball has in one large market and one midsize market. Our game has one large market that provides a niche following. We need to acquire a niche following in Adelaide and Perth to narrow the gap.

OZTAM isn't the reason for TV monies nor do they "determine" the cost of a 30 second ad.

It's a organisation that determines TV ratings.

Adelaide is years away (if ever) from being a realistic expansion option.

Hang on. Isn’t Adelaide 90% of the Australian tv market?

I'd love to see a team here but I honestly can't see it happening any time soon.

We don't have the right sized stadium for a start.

Adelaide Oval is now too big and Coopers Stadium is far too small.

There's no political will to build one either.
