ridiculous if trueBBL will stay at Bellerive. New stadium is not for cricket apparently.

sports tourism is a big market, and new modern stadiums are something make an effort to travel toIt’s an afl ground mate. It’s not for cricket. Cricket is based at Bellerive where we already have a 20000 stadium. As for tourism we’ve got no shortage of that. What we need is affordable accommodation, health spending and spending on schools. We already have two stadiums fit for afl purpose. Is it that hard to understand this is not required and is a waste of money?
Maybe if the government is building a new ground they could sell the old one to get some money backridiculous if true
They have to sort out the location soon imo or the opportunity will go away totally
ideal scenario is feds and council and maybe panthers themselves all chip in on top and it’s another commbank
you'd hope we were putting in joint requests with soccer and union, sometimes I wonder if we actually put in any requests at all outside of talking big to the mediaCricket and afl are twin souls these days. Put in joint funding for government grants. Believe me. I’ve seen them. They’ll combine for a Canberra stadium and that’s where team 20 will be.
this is what id assume was the caseMaybe if the government is building a new ground they could sell the old one to get some money back
It pisses me off being a cricket fan. I hate drop in wickets, I miss the old Waca & Adelaide Oval. Worse thing Australian Cricket ever did was get swindled by AFL. And yeah I could bet my first born that Canberra will get a new stadium and it won’t have corners.Cricket and afl are twin souls these days. Put in joint funding for government grants. Believe me. I heard they tried to get it rezoned and got knocked back so the lands current value is more like 30 million or so and the state govt was looking at cunpulsory acquitisonThe location is there, The Paceway have $100m offer waiting but it requires that land to be re-zoned.
Every month more houses are popping up so the area needs something, I'd rather wait and have the something and got knocked back be a stadium then have a half done stadium and drop $200m on an indoor arena that is never used
Andrew Barr says hello. It’ll be a fit for purpose afl cricket ground. No doubt about it. Gil’s got his claws in there. It will happen. It pisses me off being a cricket fan. the 3rd team is next up, just need an NRL team to jump into bed in Campbelltown with themSoccer got commbank and allianz
and on top of it the nsw govt paid them 5 million pa to host the grand final too
if only rugby league were as highly valued by our state govt
We’ve neglected Canberra for decades. We’ve got their biggest sporting club and we’ve done nothing to protect our interests there. Canberrans know what a dump Bruce Stadium is. Canberra is our nations capital and the raiders are pivotal to our national profile. We can be so dumb mate.you'd hope we were putting in joint requests with soccer and union, sometimes I wonder if we actually put in any requests at all outside of talking big to the media

throw in the brumbies and that's their only full time sporting clubs - why aren't both clubs & codes lobbying together (or are they?)We’ve neglected Canberra for decades. lobby the feds, if they put in money first and ask the territory to match its surely got more chance, if the NRL can pitch in for part ownership even betterKnowing the d*** that is in charge of the place and how we are not considered important to the competition, we won’t be getting a new stadium.
.......
The irony in all of this private schools have no problems receiving large Govt grants.
