Probably need to draw a bigger circle on the map to include Hawkesbury.

Now if the outcome is a negative for both the Pacway and the current site, is there another location at Penrith for a new stadium? Is the Pacway the only top alternative?

Paceway is best. Fits all criteria

There was a rumour of next to Panthers but it isn't set up for traffic.

The light rail from the new airport links to St Marys maybe around there they can find land.

Needs to be near public transport and road access to be suitable

Sounds like a storm in a teacup

if the money comes for a new stadium it won’t need major upgrades for 30 years

I can’t see the feds putting in more than 300 million max so the act govt will need to top that up for a roofed modern stadia
Firstly, there won't be split ownership no matter how much money each party puts in, that's not how this stuff works in the public sector. One body will be responsible for ownership, administration, and maintenance of the stadium, the debate is whether that body should be a federal one as part of the AIS or an ACT one.

Secondly, it's not a storm in a teacup, it's the single biggest factor that has held development of this infrastructure back in Canberra. It got so bad in the case of the arena that it had to be closed to the public. No other jurisdiction would be expected to accept anything similar, and there'd be national debate about if anything similar was attempted in Sydney or one of the other major cities.

You also don't seem to understand that I'm not just talking about major upgrades (that the ACT shouldn't be expected to fund for assets they don't own either BTW), but things like general maintenance and upkeep.

The debate of Eden Park's future has re-ignited again
Yeah that’s a whole lot of nothing. A proposal by he trust that rubs Eden Parj to try and get more money spent on it, which would still be a multi sport stadium catering the cricket, rugby and league and therefore a bit shit

Do the feds own any other sports venue in the country? It’s weird they’d want to be responsible for one in canberra,

You know they have stadium management companies right ?

Whoever collects the rent will be liable for maintenance

for a new stadium this will be minimal

anyway with all the land in Canberra it doesn’t have to be on Bruce it can be anywhere that has decent public transport and roads.

heck build it over lake Burleigh Griffith that would be iconic lol

Yeah that wouldn’t cost much money at all.

Not sure how a rectangular stadium would cater for cricket at all

Read the article, they mention cricket. It in the actual headline:

Eden Park retractable roof proposal: Multimillion-dollar vision to upgrade stadium for rugby, cricket, concerts and other major events

The sidelines are a fair way Iin from the stands in this image, it’s obviously not a dedicated football stadium:

the Eden Park Trust has always been pretty cricket-centric
