I’d say the other way round- you get snow up on the mountain but not really down at sea level on the shore where the stadium would be. Canberra more likely to actually experience snowfall in the city due to its elevation and inland location.
We don’t get snow in the city. Or at least very rarely. Canberra is colder in winter and hotter in summer than Hobart by the way

Wasn't quite the shoreline but last time we were in Hobart it was in September ( probably about 7 years ago ) and walked a few blocks up from the CBD and there was snow in the side streets, it wasn't shore level but it wasn't right up in the mountain either,

Talking to the Pride CEO today, the Barlow Park rebuild will begin in 2026. Temporary stands will be erected on the eastern Hill for the membership while the western stand is bulldozed and rebuilt.

Will that turn it into more of a rectangle stadium? From memory it has an athletics track

Does Cairns really need an athletics stadium that size? Seems like you could slap a track in any park and build a proper stadium for RL, a sport that will actually bring the crowds. Or stick the athletics track around the AFL ground, why does ours have to be f**ked by it?

AFL like taking over other grounds so they should be accepting of an athletics track at all their oval stadiums

The AFL owns Cazaly’s Stadium. The council owns Barlow Park.

It needs an athletics track somewhere and it’s probably expensive to move it. Plus it would host regional schools athletics events so it’d need some level of capacity and facilities. In a place the size of cairns you’re more likely to need to use facilities for multiple sports.
