What’s the solution for manly dragons and Cronulla ? (Penrith already getting their own stadium)
I did say clubs should move their home games v easts and souths to Allianz
They would make a lot of money doing that and raise their crowd average
Spit balling:
Manly and Dragons(PT) to Allianz.
Dragons 5 home games at Allianz (Souths, Roosters, Manly, Eels, Bulldogs) with reciprocal membership deals with those clubs so Dragons Sydney fans get 10 home game membership a year (effectively giving them 8 membership games at Allianz, 1 at Commbank and 1 at Accor), Wollongong fans get 7 home games a year (inc sharks every year) at redeveloped WIN.
Penrith are getting a stadium, all be it only half built.
Tigers 9 games at Commbank and 3 at Campbelltown (more to Campbelltown if it ever gets rebuilt)
Souths to Allianz.
That leaves the NSW govt only having to fund:
Penrith (committed but should be done properly)
Upgrade to WIN
Upgrade to Newcastle (because they deserve it more than any fanbase!)
Upgrade to Campbelltown (if Aleague want to join the party)
Around $850million and sorts out all but 1 NSW NRL club
Sure Manly fans might take some convincing but its hard to justify the money that a one tenant suburban stadium like Brookvale is when there are two world class govt funded stadiums within 45mins of it.
Sharks is the tricky one, probably too far to Allianz and hard to justify a big Govt spend (ala Brookvale) they might just have to find a way to finance it themselves if they want to stay there.
That sees Allianz being used by 3 clubs, Commbank by 2. At least the NSW govt is starting to get some value for money out of its big investments and NRL in Sydney is played increasingly in stadiums befitting the #1 code.
