It is much harder to get a $3B project off the ground compared to a $2B one. If you want ACCOR replaced, you keep it simple.
That would be a simple work around of how the is announced. The Olympic Park area is already set for a big transformation so just announce the direction funding is going in parts.
That’s as needed for the medium-long term too. Accor is the only large project as it needs a full rebuild. Qudos, Showgrounds, Tennis, Athletics & Aquatics would only need minor-moderate renovations in the next 10-15 years and could be announced and done separately but within a similar timeframe to have it all firing by the mid 2030s.
What I’m saying is already the plan anyway (vaguely). The
Olympic Park Master Plan mentions that the sporting venues will be “expanded, redeveloped & enhanced to meet the needs of the changing community.”
