I’d like to see Accor and Qudos Arena both demolished and rebuilt around 2030 as state of the art 75k and 20k venues, as part of the Homebush bay renewal plans with more entertainment options in the precinct.

$4B to rebuild both venues but tied into a greater urban redevelopment plan of the area costing many more billions total.

Since they can set up one big construction site they can save on some costs doing them together.
Nothing wrong with Qudos Arena

Well not really, don’t see how it costs more than doing all of it one by one. Doesn’t all need to be done at once, staggered over 5-10 years to refresh the precinct while the metro work and urban renewal is happening.

Accor rebuild would be the main part of course but the other stadiums & arenas can be touched up as part of the renewal as needed, it’ll all be 30+ years old by then.
It is much harder to get a $3B project off the ground compared to a $2B one. If you want ACCOR replaced, you keep it simple.

The SCG actually does need upgrading. Some of those stands are more than 100 years old!
The 2 stands that are 100 years old will never be demolished. Ever.

Its the rest of the ground that needs upgrades.
The Brewongle/Churchill and Bill O'Reilly stands.
The Hill stand isn't that old.

The SCG will likely get an upgrade and it is due for one.

I remember discussing potential upgrades with my tour guide when I did the tour there a couple of years ago and she brought up complaints made by Fox Sports as well as Channels 7 and 9 about the lift in the Brewongle Stand to the Media Center being dodgy. Going into the Members Pavillion on the tour was a really cool expirence from the Australian Changerooms to the Member's bar as well as that walk from the changerooms to the turf done by many from Bradman to Provan to Meninga to Ponting among many other legends

The Super Dome is still ranked as one of the best indoor arenas in the world. Certainly the best in Australia. It doesn't need to be touched.

The SCG will always get upgrades here and there and that is fine. The Brewrongle stand will probably be replaced next.

The show ground stadium doesn't need to be touched. Every bit of future funding should be going to Accor.

Agree re the Showground.
GWS are lucky to fill 5000 seats each game.

That would be a simple work around of how the is announced. The Olympic Park area is already set for a big transformation so just announce the direction funding is going in parts.

That’s as needed for the medium-long term too. Accor is the only large project as it needs a full rebuild. Qudos, Showgrounds, Tennis, Athletics & Aquatics would only need minor-moderate renovations in the next 10-15 years and could be announced and done separately but within a similar timeframe to have it all firing by the mid 2030s.

What I’m saying is already the plan anyway (vaguely). The Olympic Park Master Plan mentions that the sporting venues will be “expanded, redeveloped & enhanced to meet the needs of the changing community.”
