To be fair to @SirPies&Beers he has been in and out of hospitals for some time now....

Don't think he understands what a hornets nest Downey Park is. I wouldn't want all them netball players coming for me when they find out about this plan.

royal brisbane and northern bus ways is near it


wilston train station is near it.


inner city bypass and therefore legacy ways, clem 7 and therefore m1 and gateways, airport tunnel exits are literally right there


so it had traino, busway, multiple freeways and tunnels converge right next to it, hospital (hence the infrastructure and public transport). netball fields could always be relocated (maybe to viccy park as they'll be more environmental friendly) and assuming it gets busy there from netball events etc then all it means is the area is already used to heavy congestion. whats so wrong about it?

Not the worst idea. Due to the Royal’s location both public transport and motorways infrastructure do pass reasonably close to your proposed location.

It is a flood plain. Look at the proximity to the creek. Sure that can be negated with astute design and engineering. However, I generally don’t believe there is enough land space for it.

No clue mate. I just jumped on while having a quick bite to eat and found myself in this thread.

But I dare say that the Olympic stadium location is fairly important to South Queensland’s sporting landscape. If it is a true 65k+ seater then it wouldn’t surprise me if a couple of the big event NRL games do get a sniff at being played there down the track regardless of it’s oval shape. I guess the relevance of it to rugby league can be traced there.

If this oval stadium in Brisbane is anything above 50k capacity it’s a collosal waste of money.

Hopefully sanity will prevail and we get a 50k upgraded Gabba and a 65k Suncorp.

The access in and out of the Brewongle Stand is terrible, very narrow and would imagine the Clive Churchill stand would be much the same. The O'Reilly stand on the other side has the same problems as the Brewongle. You would need a complete rebuild as all three stands don't meet current safety regulations.

If this oval stadium in Brisbane is anything above 50k capacity it’s a colossal waste of money.

If money was no object (and IT IS), than a more suitable solution for an oval in Brisbane would be a hybrid of permeant and temp/removable seating like Stadium Australia was. Say something like 45k permeant, with 15k of temp seating.
