Since Venues nsw own both I can’t see why they don’t let souths out of the cheap rent at homebush and make them pay more for Allianz other than homebush ends up an even bigger white elephant
Accor has pretty much hosted every major event in Sydney for the past 25 years.

Yes,its not ideal in its configuration but to call it a white elephant is a joke.

They had a great plan to do just that but then everyone started to complain about hospitals so they ditched it. Even though they spend $80b a year on hospitals already and the works on the stadium were only half a billion.

.
Don't need to preach that to me. It pissed me off that crap.

SCG Trust took over Venues NSW and diverted all government money to the SFS rebuild

Then the government cut funding

Yes and no. The SCG Trust was effectively abolished. It was merged into Venues NSW. The problenm was many of the board appointments were from those who were on the SCG Trust Board. That is now no longfer the case.

The main person who redirected the money was Stuart Ayres. He's the one to blame for Accor not happening can be laid at his feet.

It’s better Accor didn’t get upgraded it would’ve had minimal benefit to rugby league and would’ve locked up the grand final in Sydney

And Penrith would’ve got no new stadium

Pvl reversed Greenberg wishes for the money to go to Homebush and Allianz for more money on suburban grounds

Most of the money on Homebush was going for a roof and leaving the existing side stands untouched and which are average views at best

Previous Nrl proposal to nsw state govt for similar project to marvel where they buy the stadium after the state funds it

Dogs still have their development proposal including 40k stadium being assessed by nsw planning authorities
building a stadium in Sydney would be a pretty poor investment option for the nrl

Accor upgrade rebuild should co-incided with the light rail and metro opening up in SOP
Currently that is planned to be
- Metro - 2032
- Light rail - 2033

So 1-2 year rebuild should start around 2030. Couple of years to get design and budget done - could also host some soccer games in the 2032 Olympics if needed

Maybe, though if done properly it could have benefitted 3 NRL clubs where as Penrith will only benefit one. And even then Penrith has ended up being a half arsed build.

Allianz craps all over Accor even with a roof

Souths time at Homebush is done it served the club well at the start and now it’s a burden

Dogs do well at Homebush but their eyes are on Liverpool

Which just leaves one origin one prelim and the gf

It’s a shame Penrith didn’t get the oaceway stadium up that would’ve been so good

And on a different point here’s the eight wonder during a recent storm

Here’s an aerial of Everton fc new stadium

as is sure, but if done properly for the original $800mill Souths, Dogs and tigers could have used it as home. Redesigned seats and a roof with an intimate 30k mode and accor would have serviced three NRl clubs needs well. Souths only want to move as Allianz is better facilities and size as things stand now. Sort Accor out and they'd have no reason to move, they've already confessed most of their membership base lives in the West.

As it is the only thing to have happened since the whole Vlandys v Ayres stadium stoush 2.5 years ago is penrith getting half a new stadium. Not exactly a great outcome so far.

Accor was moving one stand behind the posts closer

The side stands were to remain and they suck. I had centreline seats for 3 years and even those it’s distant from the field vs same seats at Suncorp you can hear the players talking

Homebush is an awful ground for any club games unless at least 20k is in

Souths want to move back as it’s near their territory

The sfs was their home ground when they abandoned Redfern oval

And their training ground is close by

On their socials they post a lot from mascot and around there don’t know how often they are out at Homebush

Sydney has had 1.5 billion plus on new stadiums and coe plus the nsw govt still pay 8 million pa to keep the grand final. Not bad lol

assuming the current Sydney teams remain, I think an updated Accor would have
- Dogs 10 games
- Tigers 6 games
SOO, finals, GF
Maybe 1 game per season of Parra/Penrith

Not sure where you're getting that from. The plan was to bring all the lower and middle stands in closer to the pitch and improve roof coverage for the lower areas. This was by far the best thing they could have done with Accor and would have met the needs of three NRl clubs. As is we have half a stadium for one club come out of the discussions.
