Playing rectangular sports on a large oval should be avoided wherever possible

As a one off sure but the nfl is a multi year deal

Accor would’ve provided a way better experience for fans and its capacity is still large

Wait for the complaints from Aussie fans when the game is on

Accor as bad as it is craps all over the mcg for viewing experience
Hasn’t everyone on here been complaining the ACCOR needs to be converted to rectangular? Isn’t is an oval as well.

Accor is not rectangular, but anyone with eyesight can see that it’s no where near the same shape as the MCG.,especially along the sidelines.

Accor

The stadium's field is 160 meters by 118 meters

MCG 174 metres x 149 metres

Coliseum shape means the distance from the stands is even worse

I'm really not sure how some people believe the MCG oval is the same as ACCOR oval

Victorians have never been able to understand the difference between oval and cricket oval. Accor is not perfect but its a million times better than the MCG for anything with a rectangular field (pretty much every sport in the world).

Accor's problem, besides the seats behind the in-goal is the pitch of the seats.

The G is hot garbage for rectangular sports, and the smaller NFL field will mean you are even further from the action. The lower bowl will be particularly shit as you will be staring at 60 players and coaches on the sideline. But it's really about the spectacle more than the game in this instance.

Plus NFL have had some pretty ropey grounds over the years.

Main concern is not area between try lines,

While it could be a bit closer or you can get more seats by lowering the pitch (as planned)

The trend in placing the electronic signals is blocking the views from lower 15 rows

On the ends you need the height option which means you need to not only square the stadium but also have L3/4 seating arrangement

And extend the roof to cover all seats not just from row 25

All of a sudden ACCOR is great for rectangular sports? You guys are just jealous. 50 posts about NFL @ MCG. Isn’t this thread about future NRL stadiums? What’s the latest there?
50 posts that I thought made pretty good sense. The only one I thought made sense in the `for` argument side was the extra money the NFL makes hosting it at the MCG.

They dont choose venue based on view lines lol. They choose them based on $'s. MCG+Vic Govt delivers millions more $'s than Accor. Simple economics
