The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

Looks like other sports are now taking up the cudgels of sporting facilities. Was an article in today's Sunday Telegraph about the 2000 Olympic Velodrome and other facilities at Sydney Olympic Park, including Accor itself, which require significant investment in as they are almost unsuitable for competitive use as little hasd been spent on them. I can't find the story online though to post a link, sorry.

Is anyone familiar with the upgrades they did to River Plates stadium a few years? It looks like something Stadium Australia could look at (I can see they have tried to get better seating/viewing into the inner part of that stadium probably where running track use to be and it looks like they have made it into a standing section).

It looks like a roofless Optus Stadium before and after drop in seats are installed, at least from what I could see on Wikipedia

The main stands were built 1.5m high so drop in seats can be used. 5000 across the 4 sides. Don’t see them very often.
thats what they should do with this thing they are building for the olympics in brisbane except make it higher like 3 mtres so then it becomes a big rectangular stadium.

Yep they should, like the proposed Auckland stadium. they may yet if they’ve got any sense then they could have a 65k stadium for origin. In this day and age of technology they should be able to build oval stadiums with an extendable bottom tier that turns it a decent rectangular one.

Did people know that Parra stadium has the steepest rake in the world? I knew it was steep but not the steepest.
I figured it set a new standard and they would all be like that. But Moore park and Optus (both built after) look crap in terms of rake. Weird.

Optus is insane in the top tier. Serious vertigo!
The bigger the stadium the less rake in the bottom tiers. Otherwise the top tier would be way up high!

the new Everton stadium south stand has the steepest legally allowed and will hold 14,000

Accor Stadium did look at this option back in 2019
Everything up to Level 6 would've been demolished and reconfigured with a 70,000 seat stadium
For 45,000 seats, its a completely new experience and the remaining 25,000 seats on L6 is no change.
This is the basis of the original plan back in 2000 BEFORE the AFL destroyed the reconfiguration.
We all preferred the full knock down, but the example below still looks great for at least 45,000 plus the low levels of L6 especially considering nothing has been done.

What a missed opportunity that was thanks to the afl. We’ve missed out on having a proper large rectangle ground for the last 25 years and counting

Exactly!
In fact the render above was used by the 2023 Women's FIFA World Cup as the venue for the Final.
The deal was done before the NSW Government killed off the project during COVID.

I wouldn't mind if we did that now rather than a full knockdown rebuild of the entire stadium. Just change it to a full roof. Probably would still be 2B

Didnt the NSW govt offer to spend $800mill moving the stands and Vlandys said no thanks we'd rather have suburban grounds?

Nope.
The NSW completely killed it off duting covid. It was only later Vlandys started to negotiate the suburban grounds which clearly was a waste of time.
They should just stick to the redevelopment of ACCOR.

Thats a shame, the plans look decent. Wasnt the latest a $300mill roof feasibility study. What became of that?

It seems stadiums are on the nose for Govt at moment. Tassie is a bun fight, Penrith is a scale back, Brisbane has taken years to decide, Perth refusing to upgrade, Canberra just pretending its not an issue and Sydney still not able to sort out its strategy
