The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

There's a redevelopment of Henson Park as we speak - with no major sporting events there. Costing $12.5m. And only the Newton Jets play there, as well as the Women's Sydney Swans AFL team.

Then some money can be spent on Leichhardt Oval too. Yes, very handful of Wests Tigers games are held there. But I think some A-League has played there too (men's and women's comp) in recent times too. Agree that there's not enough "big professional games a year" there. Extra trials matches for the NRL? Women's NRL can play more games there? I dunno.

Dragons fans always make the most sense.

yep it’s good for rugby league in general, lots of women’s and juniors can be played there, as well as the occasional nrl game. Better than upgrading more local ovals.

The future main ground for wests tigers is either:
- A rebuilt or upgraded Campbelltown
- a new liverpool stadium shared with bulldogs
- a rebuilt Accor with a 45k club mode configuration

They can continue to use leichardt for trial games and 1-2 historical games (vs Souths or dragons)

Then for games against bulldogs and parra they should move to Accor and build them up to 50k+ crowds (if they’re at Campbelltown or Liverpool)

The AFL is contributing $4.5m to Henson Park. The helps get things moving.

The NRL needs to decide what the end game (say, 2035) is for Sydney NRL stadia, and work backwards from there.

Coopers Stadium where Adelaide United play in the A League would be closest large scale soccer only stadium, holds about 16.5k and only because they hardly play any league or union in SA.

Is there a exclusive "soccer" stadium anywhere in Australia?
No, it's not viable. However, when there is a common use rectangular stadium built, you'll often see the renders with soccer goals in place rather than the dominant sport.

Ovals get AFL posts in the renders, not cricket pitches. Even the Brisbane Olympic Stadium agenda was in full view. The renders were of an AFL field, no athletics track in sight
