Unfortunately Te Kaha doesn't meet the minimum 40k capacity (only has 30k). As noted by another poster, FIFA also doesn't like ovals and they want 7 of the 14 stadiums to be already built I assume to reduce staging cost. And with the finals enlarged to 48 teams it is more likely in future that there will be joint hosts like next year (USA, Canada and Mexico) and 2030 (Spain, Portugal, Morocco, as well as Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay to commemorate 100 years since first WC). Australia hosting the WC would however certainly have some spin off benefits in new or upgraded stadiums and hopefully rectangular ones.Yep you’re right probably wishful thinking for an Ipswich stadium to coincide with an Ipswich nrl team. Woild make sense to swap that for a 40k Canberra stadium that can be downgraded to 30k post games.
then add Nz to make it 14 stadiums:
Eden Park upgraded 60k
Te Kahu - existing stadium
New Wellington 40k stadium
Potentially missing out on up to two of its bigger events of the year
Probably compensation would’ve sweetened it up for the tenants
Panthers not without a show of jagging 4th. although less likely than not.Only teams who finish top 4 play at home beyond week 1, pretty unlikely Roosters, Sharks, Manly or Dragons make it that high. Safe decision.
Yep, 2038 will be in South America or Europe anyway, so 2042 is the earliest possible one.Bidding for a FIFA world cup is murky and very political. Australia may need to co host it with NZ and Indonesia, so they could get votes from Oceania and Asia confederations.
But there is always backroom deals going on, or deals happening even before the bidding process had begun.. Saudi Arabia won the right to host it. And there was no other official bid against the Saudi's.
We can come up with a list of stadiums of a possible world cup here, but in reality, we are probably wasting our time.
And if it's Asia's turn in 2042 you might see China put their hand up who would be able to throw more money at it than Australia. And we know that FIFA loves money.Yep, 2038 will be in South America or Europe anyway, so 2042 is the earliest possible one.
So it's pointless discussing it.
What a massive storm in a teacup. The soccer fixture is not even out yet. If Allianz is shut down for 6 - 8 weeks, that would make it ready by the start of November. The A-League starts in the second half of October, so they just schedule two or three away games to start the season. No compo required.A few extra in the tens of tousands of dollars for one game won't help them if things like this occur with other affected events -

Sydney FC to seek millions in compensation over Allianz Stadium drainage fiasco
A review is expected to recommend the stadium be shut down for at least six weeks to fix the playing surface, meaning the Sky Blues will have to take their home games on the road again.www.smh.com.au
Venues NSW is not run by commercial dopes. They probably had to make hard choices, andf I dare say the timing is the best they could manage. The NRL dosn't have a contract for those weekends for the venue so have no claim to say they are effected. Sydney FC and other events do during the effected period even allowing for the early start.
Auckland A-League investors have pulled out of Auckland's Western Springs stadium proposal
Thanks for posting the post I posted just above
Stadium going back to full capacity on the cards once that’s done
Leaving them with the leagues club plus Kareela
“The Club build is projected to take around 12-15 months, with the Sharks pencilling in an opening date of mid-to-late 2026.”
