He did fund Newcastle
Having been a Newcastle boy. Newcastle got no funding in the 90s. The whole main street etc was going backwards after BHP steelworks closed down.

Especially if the proposed Metro line from Kogarah to Parra is approved. Mind you, it may be 50 years before that gets built!I'm not sure TBH... Kogarah might be the right spot. Ideal scenario would be somewhere reasonably accessible to both sets of fans and near a major station on a train line.
Cronulla needs to move on from Shark Park. Cronulla is competing against teams who play at Suncorp, Commbank, Allianz, AAMI and beautiful Townsville stadium.
Cronulla needs to think long term. IMO Shark Park isn't long term. So they need to look at another site in the Shire, or share with the Dragons at Kogarah oval. Play at Allianz and have a couple of games at Shark Park, or find another alternative.
If Cronulla dont find a long term solution with their stadium, then who knows, it could be fatal. They may end up like Ghost Sharks.
Cronulla needs to sort it out.
Wollongong first please.I don't see a southern stadium being on the government's mind for a long long time. They have the SCG and Accor to fix up first, then they will most likely focus on Wollongong and Newcastle.
A stand at the south end would block the view from the Leagues Club. Which I guess may be the point - get a few more people into the ground.Wow, they have changed the plans. It was supposed to be CoE at the northern end. In June, Tigers wanted $50 million to upgrade the western stand. Campbelltown council contributed $10 million.
So add the $40.3 million previously for the CoE/stand. And there is the $50 million upgrade, where it looks a small stand along with CoE building will be built at each end behind the goalposts. Which means, Campbelltown stadium will become an all seater venue with no hills.
Once the ends are done, Tigers need funding for western and eastern stands, although Campbelltown is headed in the right direction with increase capacity and 1200 corporates.
Bang.Your telling me Adelaide Sharks are a goer? Best news I've heard this week. Until the Dogs win tonight.
These 2 stadiums should not be compared. You play what half your games at that stadium? McDonald Jones has a full time NRL team (who actually draw decent crowds as well) plus a full time A league team. It attracts more big events and is generally going to be a much more used stadium. It’s also the only stadium in the Hunter which is a large and growing population.Wollongong first please.
McDonald Jones - 33,000 capacity
WIN Stadium - 23,000 capacity
we are due.
They are both the main stadium for a major regional area with large and growing populations. Therefore Stadiums NSW has a role in improving them. These 2 stadiums should not be compared. There is far more value in improving McDonald homes stadium.
Whilst your right that McDonald Jones Stadium attracts more big events, it's still important for Wollongong to have modern facilities. Ideally I'd love to see both get done. These 2 stadiums should not be compared. You play what half your games at that stadium? I doubt they will put a stand over the hill (in the short term anyway) as the view to the surf is an iconic part of WIN.Whilst your right that McDonald Jones Stadium attracts more big events, it's still important for Wollongong to have modern facilities. Ideally I'd love to see both get done.
Newcastle needs grandstands on one or both ends and more roof coverage?
Wollongong needs an eastern and southern grandstand upgrade.
Am I missing anything else?
Saints are pretty much in the same boat. Do they move to Moore Park for Sydney games with some at the gong? One game a year at Kogarah.
Reportedly, starting next year for x years, Saints home game vs the Dogs will be at Allianz*.They are not quite in the same boat. Cronulla own their home ground. Win stadium is part of Venus NSW. Georges River Council is looking into Jubliee Stadium Precinct Master Plan. So let's see what unfolds. If Kogarah oval doesn't get any funding, then Dragons should move all or majority of Sydney games to Allianz.
In a typical two year cycle, Dragons have 12 Sydney home games. One home game is always committed to ANZAC Day match against the chooks at Allianz. So the Dragons could possibly commit another 11 at Allianz stadium.
It is now magnificent and vibrant. Like Broadway or 6th Street in Austin.Having been a Newcastle boy. Newcastle got no funding in the 90s. The whole main street etc was going backwards after BHP steelworks closed down.
It’s still pretty average tbh.Having been a Newcastle boy. Newcastle got no funding in the 90s. The whole main street etc was going backwards after BHP steelworks closed down.
I thought this was happening next year because they are sharing revenues for vegas and the return game they decided to do the same at allianz.Reportedly, starting next year for x years, Saints home game vs the Dogs will be at Allianz*.
* a neutral ground
I believe so. But I’m not certain.I thought this was happening next year because they are sharing revenues for vegas and the return game they decided to do the same at allianz.
Will it continue beyond next year?
