Nope that is govt lies.

We were sold something like TQL in MLS, fans wanted it. It meant buying the Paceway and the extra space.

Labor came into Power and $309m was already put aside for it.

They only wanted to pay that for it, So amended the plans accordingly.

It is a farce, In 10 years time when the population hits the projected numbers. It will be too small
Can you share the plans that showed the removal of the hills?

It also doesn't help that the ACT Government doesn't have great finances either. I suspect only the Feds do in all honesty.

That said, its an appalling situation that stadium.
Well they have $5B for the tram apparently... and im not philosophically opposed to the tram like many others in Canberra.

Stadiums provide ROI, Suncorp, SFS, Adelaide Oval and Perth stadium etc prove that. It would be no different with a world class stadium in Civic.

At the end of the day, Barr just doesnt want it and it really is as simple as that. I think the NRL should step in here and threaten to revoke the license because that's probably what it's going to take

Andrew Barr, being the AFL stooge he is, would probably say okay…bye…to the NRL.

He wants an AFL team in Canberra, I doubt he even acknowledges the existence of the Raiders.

It’s disgraceful to the point where I’d actually support an ACT Liberal government being elected if they provided guarantees a new rectangular stadium was built.

I’ve got no time for ALP politicians who are all in on fumbleball. Rugby league is the working class game. Union and AFL have always looked down and sneered at us.

Edit - sorry just saw the article at the top of this page about a new stadium.

Didn't the LNP already promise that in 2024?

Yeah he might be willing to lose the NRL team but I doubt the voters will and that might force his hand.

Anzac Day in NSW has been a public holiday for decades. The restrictions are the same as those as during Easter -

The changes you mention, made in 2024, are outlined here -

Yeah i knew it has been a public holiday for ages, i was just trying to point out the extra restrictions that the Minns government bought in, before centres could open at 1pm on Anzac Day but with the extra restrictions most majors centres closed, no Woolies or Coles, Liquorland, BWS trading at all at my local centre at Marrickville Metro , it was locked up, no trading at all on the 25th April.

On a side note i used to laugh, as i catch the bus from Marrickville Metro to the Anzac Day game and the lines of people queued waiting for the centre doors to open at 1pm.

Sorry the original plans have been taken down.

Here is a photo as presented
And the Infrastructure NSW article.

This is the problem with all governments, Things are easily accessible and lies get found much easier

Rain drains into the concourse and floods it. There are large parts of the accessible seating that are in this area as well. The stadium is just not up to standard.

almost? Thought that was just “stage 1”?
Then you’d be mistaking what works are the actual ground vs works for the greater footprint. The rugby league part which is the new stand is almost done. The rest is more entertainment similar to Ipswich’s staged upgrade

Yeah, if this was an American sports league the club would be making relocation noises by now.

It's far from what I want to see, but it might be a case where the Raiders have little choice to look at similar hardball tactics to try and get upgrades/replacement across the line... because there are no other ways to strongly make their point.

It is not a maybe, relocation should be done
