Remember that year we reportedly had a 1.5 million dollar war chest to fling at the market?
I can't remember if it was the year we snared Civ but either way we certainly made no more than 1/2 signings. Imagine now, when we don't have any money to burn, we have no hope, and we all know it. I don't even know why I keep checking this thread.
The way the club has managed the announcement of recruitment and retention news is disgraceful if you ask me, also. I still haven't seen any official word on Penrith's side regarding Aiton, Farrell abusively confirmed the Simmons rumour (mind you if i was an admin and had to confirm that rubbish I'd be tentative), and I also haven't seen anything official on Bell or Daniela from Penrith. Are they just standing in a corner covering their ears pretending nothing is happening?

To my knowledge Penrith never put out statements acknowledging the loss of one player or another to other clubs and while I don't follow what other clubs do in this respect closely I can't imagine other clubs would either. Why would they?

Panthers re-sign Bell

Thursday, July 23, 2009
Prop, Matthew Bell, has extended his contract with the club for another 2 years.
Panthers CEO Michael Leary has today announced the extension after meeting with Bell's manager.
Matthew is Brisbane born but joined the club in 2005 before making his first grade debut against Parramatta in Round 11 of 2006. After marrying in the off season, Matthew and wife Sally are expecting their first child in the next 3 weeks.

About f*cking time we re-signed a player. Pretty pathetic that we only had 3 must keep players, and we only managed to keep one of them.

Bell resigning is the good news. The bad news will be that is us spent our entire salary, don't know how but there probably wont be any other pieces of good news.

Hopefully we lock Michael Jennings up for 4 or 5 years. He's already one of the most dangerous players in the NRL... with another off season and the experience he has gained this year, he will be even better again next season.

Don't hold your breath Murraybob otherwise I would fear for your long term survival.

Fibroman is probably the best person to know whether it is likely or otherwise we will retain Shane Blackett but I can't shed any light on the issue as Fibroman owes me money so he avoids me like swine flu.

I haven't had the opportunity of watching the Wolves in recent weeks as I was overseas and they have been playing away since my return so I am not sure how Shane has been going. I hope to get the opportunity of getting out to Windor to watch the wolves in the coming weeks to see how Shane and the others are travelling despite the fact they seem to be stuck on seven points at the foot of the ladder.

I have just checked the Windsor Wolves website and they are playing at home this Saturday evening commencing 6pm against the Jets.

I might pop down and watch the game as I should get back home in time to catch the kickoff for our fixture against the Cowboys.

Maybe Fibroman could pick me up and I could have a few ales as opposed to having to drive him around as I usually do in his drunken stupor.

Fibroman offered to take me out for lunch this week but surprise, surprise I did not receive any phone calls. He was obviously too busy at work. I'll take a rain check and I am sure he will take me out to lunch some time in the next millenium.

Kilkenny ain't in the habit of spreading malicious gossip or rumours but my mail is we will shortly announce a couple of low key signings. I have been told the names of the signings but rather than get you all worked up you can all wait and see.

They are not household names and not established NRL stars but could be useful pickups and maybe Matt Elliot might be able to turn them into stars.

Tell will tell. Wait with baited breath. Kilkenny knows.

Low key, cheap depth signings are fine, we need them and I think we all want them.
It's tripe like Simmons which will rile me up...

Yep. I would love a few blokes who have yet to get a crack at first grade and with proper development could be turned into solid blokes like Michael Gordon, Matt Bell, Paul Aiton etc.

Signing a bloke who has 100+ games experience and is still not up to first grade standard is just terrible. There's almost no hope that he will be a good signing. If he hasn't found his feet yet, it's not likely that he ever will.

Low profile players are fine. We can develop them. They don't bring bad Attitudes and habits from other teams and come at a cheaper price to so it helps retain Jennings and co.

We have a good core of about 20 Players we just need to plug some holes in back up Centres and Props and then we will be a force

i am all for low key signings as long as there not nrl players who have been around and done nothing. There are some real good young players running around both the nsw cup and u20.I fear Delany may be one of them.Blacket should be one of them
