I can think of nothing sadder for this man
I know some on this forum, for good reason, have an axe to grind with Gallen but if his sport career is over that is pretty devastating for him

Absolutely- be a tragic way to end.

He's had a great year & a great career.

He's busted his arse for our club & now his arse is busting him back.

If he has to retire, I hope there are no long term affects.

I did a costavertebral injury earlier this year. First ever back issue. f**k me I finally realised what merkins with real back problems moan about. Had a few days of it seizing like all f**k, couldn't sleep properly, and my shoulder and neck went into meltdown trying to protect and compensate for the joint. When I thought I was good went back to gym and felt alright. That night was agony again. Had to just give it time, a heap of anti inflammatories and treatment from my wife who is a physio.

I would not want him playing injured. Plus your back is more important than footy.

I agree Millers it would be very sad if this is career ending. Gal has busted his arse for this Club and carried the team in a tonne of games.

I hope his back settles down and we can get him back on the field.

I don't think we can afford to lose Ennis, Gallen and Heighnington all in the same year. If Gal was forced into retirement they should look at retaining Heighnington. Losing a vacuum of experience all at once is not good for a Club.

Was told yesterday he was no chance as his back is f*cked but you have another week to assess and treat, so who knows. I don't think you missed him that much last week.
Broncos have quite a few playing busted and will need to be needled up before the game. 2 of them need surgery immediately, so come on Cowboys

Sharks skipper Paul Gallen is making progress, as is prop Sam Tagataese, however the news on Joseph Paulo might not be so positive, with all three racing the clock and doing all they can to be back on deck for the Grand Final qualifier on Friday, September 23.

Taken from the sharks email

Our bestus ever #1 Club Supporter can finally earn his keep. He is high up with the local Happy Clappers who I believe have a direct phone line to the Holly Father up in the sky.

Can't him and maybe even good old George, pull a few strings and get the special light beams to shine on down on the back of Gal.

God works in mysterious ways youse know.
