I dont think he'll retire either. He'll go out on his own terms, he is too competitive to be told what to do. He and Lewy deserve their own farewell parades not a shared one.

Gallen gets the long service discount, so capwise this is not an issue.

Not so sure about that.

There is a limit as to how much discount ya get & he might be taking something that we could give to someone like Graham.

I could be wrong....??

I am saying keep Gallen is far cheaper than buying a top class forward due to the discounted salary cap compensation for long service, Does Graham qualify yet?

The best thing for the team would be for Gal to retire.
Even if he's costing relatively little on the cap in 2019, he's not capable of playing a supporting role for 30 mins off the bench - it's in his DNA, if he's on the field, he will dominate & overcall the halves for the 5th tackle hitup every time.

He is holding back the development of our team - they can't transition to new leaders & attacking structures with Gal on the field. Yes he had a great game against those filthy Storm cheats ... but great performances have been way less frequent this year, and it could look really ugly this time next year. Age naturally catches up with everyone. Sure it's Gal's competitive drive ... but increasingly it comes across as selfishness.

Gal should go out on top, with a dignity befitting our first ever premiership captain & club legend.

Having said all that ... I agree it's pretty likely he'll choose to play on. But it will be the wrong call for the team's evolution.

You’re not wrong. If gals happy to run around and can cop less minutes etc then great, but as to the cap, I think it’s 300k and anything given to gal is dosh that is not given to someone else like graham. Not sure who else qualifies. Loots probably but is leaving of course.

I read before that it was 300k too, seems as if it's now only 200k. Lewy would have qualified this year too. Maybe A-Fi next year, it doesn't just go to one club players, actually the Chad may get some, as well as Holmes, Loots. Read this and see what you think

He is an absolute legend and he is still playing better than alot of forwards or who we can get that's off contract to replace him but I believe the rest of the pack plays better without him. Fifita goes up a few gears. Playing busted now but fifita will be the one to carry this pack
