All of you that think Bird is crap need to watch his games he played before he got injured last year. He was on fire. He is strong, runs hard and can off load, put that together with the fact that has skills as a play maker and you will see this year a player of great calibre. I never was a fan of Bird but what i saw last year i liked , so give the bloke a go and if i live to eat my words than so be it.

Ciraldo or Kinga ? Even Hilder . Do you go defensive or attacking player? One thing for shure without Paul its going to be a tough start. I cant see us coming good till the middle of the season , by then it will be too late with Roosters winning every game.

It's pretty much a certainty that bird will get gallens lock position, Gallen may have trouble getting it back, he's more suited as a prop anyway.

IMO, Bird owes us bigtime.
I don't care if he's good at picking up sheilas at Northies, or even if he mows lawns. For all his wraps, he's produced just above buggor all for us so far. He owes us, and owes us big time. If he's looking good, give him a go and hope that he squares the ledger.

Im no fan of Bird, but i will say his last game Vs Tigers when we got smashed, he was the best player on the field. Lets hope he can pick that form back up.

Gallen's contributions in attack and defence have been well covered but what about his leadership. There were numerous times last year when the side looked lost or struggling and Gallen would throw himself into the game and lift his team-mates into doing the same.

I'd go as far as to say his attitude and his lead-by-example approach will be what the team misses most.

Thats a role Thompson must take up this year.

I'm going to jump on the Greg Bird bandwagon and say he'll have the lock spot to himself this year and be player of the year for the Sharkies.

Why?

For one reason:
He let me take a photo of him with my wife last year=he knows how to butter up a fan.

and secoundly:
He's got talent to burn and it's natural.

imasharkie - that's big wraps on a very, very overated "player"! I hope you are so right because from what I've seen of him, Bird has a tonne of improving to do, to become mediocre at least.

Anyway, he's in a Sharks jumper and he needs to prove he wants to be in one. I just can't decide between him & Simmons as the rankest player we've got.

Bird actually played well last weekend against the Bulldogs..
I know it was a trial... but still...
