Galloway & Gibbs

He is capable though mate ... he has shown glimpses that when he runs hard he is damn near unstoppable ... shame he's only shown it very rarely

His defense has tightened up this year,he seems keener.

And he is pulling off some bellringers too.....imo he is the enforcer we have lacked for years.Or very close to it.

Other than the Raiders game he hasn't gone above mid-40s in minutes yet for some reason he played 10 less (about 30) against the Sharks. That's a bit strange, when you consider the poo-platter of Galea & Payne were out there.

Just trying to think when was the last night game? Fact is he's made his way into the starting side - for whatever reason - and that's a step in the right direction... Maybe his minutes will increase as the heat makes way for the bitter cold?

And bitter it will be on Sat night. An 830 kick off means we could feasibly be playing around 1030 (video ref, 5 min later kick off, injury here or there, etc). Night games in bitter cold against the Qld sides actually might suit us

We paid overs to get him out of the hell hole I call "Cronulla", hopefully he'll show a bit of loyalty to us and we ca get him for the same money. And, if we don't surely there'll be no chance that we'll be re-signing O'Hara who'd be on more than Gall, so transfer some of his pay to Gall and away we go - Big Red Stitched up for another 3 years!!

Not 1 red penny more for Galloway. He got a fat contract for 3 years, and is showing something now, in his final contract season. He is sometimes good, sometimes average. He is getting now what he is worth, for his best ever performance to date. Will he improve for WT, should we re-sign him for the same, or even more? Or go to sleep, like a few others have after upgrades and/or extensions? Whatever the case, it's hard to justify the contracts of the 05 forwards signings, in comparison to what could have been obtained from Cashmere on a pittance. Galloway needs to go up a gear, and keep it up, to make the $$$ worthwhile.

^ What you're failing to relaise is that Props generall don't hit their stride till they're 23/24/25. This is far and away KG's best season TO DATE.

I don't thnk you can put that down to it being a contract year. Genuine props are scarce these days and we're thin in that departement as it is, we'd be insane to get rid off both O'Hara and Galloway in the same year, especially with big Todd in the back end of his career.

You speak to Cronulla fans and none are/were gutted about him leaving.
I don't know if he gets angry enough and wants to rip people's heads off
Too much praising the lord in the shire and not enough preaching to rip the disciples heads off

It isn't about realising the age peak of props generally. It is about his contract value. If Galloway wasn't going to acheive his "potential" until the end of his contract, or after, why on earth sign him on fat bikkies at 20? He wasn't exactly a gun prop in 2004-2005. Interesting, perhaps. May have showed some potential. Sign him what he was actually worth at 20, then re-assess him 3 years later. Same thing happened with KG, as with Harris, and O'Hara. The dollars were for dreams, not reality.

Gibbs is a baby in prop terms ... so is Galloway I guess ... but I have more hope for Gibbs really kicking on. He plays big minutes, is a good defender and very mobile and will only get better. Smeg obviously views him different ..
Actually he has always been a good defender. This seasons games are the only ones I can say have made me view Gibbs as a long term prospect. If he can continue his on-field progression and keep his nose clean off the field than I will happily admit that I was wrong about the guy.

I actually hope O'Meley is teaching him alot in City camp tbh

Very strange smeg but less than 2 weeks ago you labelled him a `brain dead f**king spastic'. I remember an info day in 03 or maybe 04 when shines actually picked gibbs to go the furthest out of that whole crop (farah, fulton, collis, marshall, harrison, halatau etc etc etc) provided he could `keep him out of jail'

For his actions off the field he is still at this stage exactly what I said for mine. But he appears to be moving in the right direction especially on field currently. Even in labelling him spastic I still complemented his defense. If he can continue I will happily admit I was wrong about his future but still believe his actions at Rosehill were that of a brain dead spastic

It was a slap on the wrist from memory. Getting blind is one thing but spitting on a female police officer, thats just low.

TBH I would rather talk about his football and current off field behaviour than dwell on things past.

Also. On Galloway. With the proper attitude he will be one of the games premier props in 2-3 seasons time IMHO

Our goal line defence seem much better when Gibbs is in the team, he is very mobile for a big man. That leads me to another point, for a big mobile man he offers little in attack. I would have thought with his leg speed he would be a real handfull. His displine is getting better although still the most likley to do a Ryles with 10 seconds left on the clock.

Galloway Iam still not convinced he will be a top linner, but the cupboards pretty bare in the frontrow department. After his first stint his impact seems to drop off big time.

He spit blood at Police from memory.

But, he was a 22 year old, he had a few and he's from Campbelltown. Let's be honest that stuff is a rite of passage out there.:)

Gibbs makes near enough 10m a hit up now and has that jink at the line that often means he falls on his stomach and gets a quick PTB. I think he's looked good since he came back and will only get better with games under his belt.
