Galvin v the Tigers

I noticed you left off the likes of Kurt Mann and Jaemon Salmon who have been successful in our side.

My point was, no one batted an eyelid when we were shit and bringing in nuff and mid players on overs. Suddenly we're not shit anymore, but we're not supposed to reap the benefits of that by signing players who want out of their clubs?

For the record, I'm hardly on board with this signing, or the way it's come about. But I'm not going to sit here and pretend it hasn't happened to us before as well.

I also love all the Toby Sexton and Reed Mahoney fans that have come out of the woodwork.

I didn't forget Salmon, if you read and understood what I wrote. Mann is shit and nobody can convince me otherwise.

I can absolutely see the rationale for the 'moneyball style' recruitment. It's difficult to drag yourself out of that bottom 4 when you've been stuck there for a few years. It's all well and good attempting to build your club through your juniors but it's demoralising watching the more successful clubs swooping in and cherry picking the best young talent.

Gus inadvertently gives himself up in that video…. Throughout the show he kept saying he’s never spoken to Galvin, but when Chammas talked about Toby Sexton and his future, Gus said to Chammas (at the 3 mins 45 second mark) that he spoke with Sexton on Friday and ‘was honest with him that he’d spoke to Galvin the day before on Thursday’.

Can’t blame Gus, he’s doing what he needs to do in his job as GM of the Dogs, but he’s been caught out, again. And it should be treated as tapping up.
I don't really know why he'd lie about speaking to him last week though. I can understand before then.

The only reason I can think is that he’s trying to distance himself from it, because in reality, he’s been part of cooking this up for months and months.

Yeah could be this, but no one can claim to know how Gus' brain works. Everything he says is a cunning plot or a game of some type.

In hindsight, we should all have seen this coming a month or two ago when he fawned over Galvin, talked about him at length and his perceived value, refused to back Sexton, and so on.

Shout out to Willie Mason who yesterday compared Burton/Galvin at 6 & 7 to Moses and Cleary:

I think most people did call out that it was obvious Gus was making a background play for him - I’ve not heard of anyone who was surprised to hear he’s going to the Dogs.

The best part about this whole Galvin news is Paul Crawley!

Yesterday he was having a whinge how the NRL allows him to go to the Dogs for $750,000 while the Tigers offered him $1 Million + how is it fair?

Well, that Muppet seems to forget literally 2 year ago he had a go at the Dogs because we couldn't attract stars who would go to the Roosters/Storm etc for less and how we had to pay overs... At the time he called us a rabble now we are cheats? Idiot

These 'journalists' are an embarrassment! This whole thing is a witch hunt on Gus and the Dogs... Headlines like the dominos are falling, NO THEY ARE NOT! Sexton was never going to be given another contract however he will see out this contract unless he wants to leave, this happens all the time with every single club! Same thing with Reed Mahoney, he will see out his contract (ends 2026) unless he finds another club, his manager wanted permission and it was granted, Reed was never going to be signed beyond it with or without Galvin!

All you guys dissecting every single word Gus has said are looking at it with your Bulldog/Gus hatred eyes… Keep the hatred guys, in the mean time we will continue to do our thing, our supporters will continue to support and the powerhouse of the NRL are back in our rightful place with another 60,000 + crowd for our next game could hit 70,000 while you other Sydney teams continue to be happy with 10,000 at your suburban shitholes.

Salmon was legit one of the worst first grade players I have seen in his time at Penrith, a terrible 'utility'

Every time he subbed on momentum would be lost.

Too slow for the backs, Souths only had the comeback in 2023 because Ivan had him defend at right centre.

Terrible ball playing in the halves (lol at Ricky for losing to the Fido/SOS combo).

Terrible backrower who lost every contact in both attack and defence. The infamous moment in round one 2023 when Luai went ballistic as he missed his assignment.

Since going to the Dogs he has put in the work and bulked up to play in the forwards which he does at a mediocre level which is a massive improvement on the displays he had at Penrith.

That's a hell of a lot of smug for a team that has been rubbish for a decade and has won 2/3rds of f**k all.

I know you bought half of Penrith but you can't appropriate their smug until you've actually won something.

Imagine we do finally win something. I am going to be INSUFFERABLE! Well moreso than usual.

I might start coming up with a list of alt accounts I can create to agree with myself now.

So they're really sure he can play 7 and run the team? Seems a genuine scatterbrain play what's in front of him 6 to me (and tbh pretty elite, way more dangerous than Burton or Sexton ball in hand).
