Galvin v the Tigers

Now I think it's not a great look to be surrounded by the drama this early in your career but.

1. So Galvin was disparaging of his boss behind closed doors when negotiating his contract. Is it arrogant, sure, are most young successful halves, sure. Not sure what point in time he should raise this issue if it is critical for him staying on board.

2. Timing of the comments isn't clear (ie before or after he told them not table an offer).

3. He'd previously asked for a release from his contract like billions of other humans before him. But publicly played it down to not draw additional press. How terrible.

4. The club doesn't like his agent because he's dodgy but legal. But the club was happy to endorse a personal injury law firm which is basically the epitome of the same description. Didn't they for years basically say this is the behaviour we literally wear on our chests as he came through the ranks?

5. He's done it early which harms the season and annoys consumate professionals like Api and Luai.

6. The public inflammatory comments all seem to be from others not him.

I'm struggling with how else he could have played this if he's genuinely not happy with how Benji coaches.

And just like that the Mental health card has just been pulled
Tigers lost control of this situation the moment Turuva decided to be a dickhead & put up his stupid post on instagram of Galvin's locker.

Everyone from the outside looking in looks at this now and basically goes whatever hope the Tigers had to stand on there digs and make him stew in NSW Cup for 18 months is gone.

From a neutral perspective you can't be leaving a 19 year old in that environment if those blokes al seem to be in a click there most have all come from Penrith with similar backgrounds want to take public pot shots at him along with the private digs.

If its been done behind close doors fair enough.

Galvin just has to man up and cop it as a man when the feedback is given face-to-face.

I have no problem with Terrell May telling him f**k off when addressing the squad if they didn't want to hear from him.

Hey, I agree, which is why I think he should get out of the situation he's in and sit out the next 18 months.

Or will his mental problems be solved by signing a big contract somewhere else?

I mean, if the environment is the issue affecting his mental health, then getting into a different environment might do the trick.

I think the Benji can’t coach angle is interesting. It’s not like it hasn’t been said for over a year everywhere else. Plus Benji retired, did a year or so in media then got a head coach role, probably because it was a poison chalice and he’s a favourite son. Reeked of a Craig Coleman esque signing.

Man I was 100% pro tigers on this and fully against Galvin.

I get Jaromes post, I think that is fine.

But Turuva's one is pretty poor taste, and just doesnt sit well with me for some reason.

It feels like the general sentiment has been pro tigers until Turuva's post, now im starting to feel sorry for Galvin when I really shouldnt be. Good work Turuva

I was like this. Even felt sorry for Tigers.

Not anymore. Now I have turned, 100% against Tigers.

The bullying, hypocritical comments and actions from Luai, Api and Turuva are now looking pathetic and disgusting.

Sweet so free rein to just claim mental health issues because you don't like your teammates, and then you can just walk out on any contract you feel like?

So what happens in 2 months when some other club comes along and offers 200k more? Does he get to walk out again because his mental health is affected?

I get it, but it's obvious to look at the dynamic and see a fair risk to his mental health.

And if he were to do that, he would't be the first...not even the first this season.

All this, it's no worse than what the rorters did to Terrell May, sacking him with a phone call, with no reasons given.
Galvin hasn't been sacked, he's been dropped and for good reasons.
Anyone who tells their boss, they're not competent would find the doorway.

It'll depend where he ends up.

Will be highly ironic telling Benji he's not the man to develop you, only to end up playing for renowned halves whisperers Jason Ryles and Nathan Brown.

Spot on. The RLPA will step in and Moses gets exactly what he wanted.

In relation to May, we the general public don't know the reasons why he was let go. I would suspect that the Roosters and May know, but neither side has said "boo" on the matter to date.
