Im glad that I have never really fully weighed in on this topic until now.

This week has been a rollercoaster of emotions in relation to the events surrounding Galvin. Here are my thoughts on the situation.

Initially, when I heard the news that Galvin knocked us back, I was a potent mixture of disappointed and angry. I was disappointed that we could not keep a junior with such obvious promise at this club. Im hearing a shitload of people saying words to the tune of "He ain't all that" and "Latu will be better than him". Those words come from understandable disappointment to be losing a player with his potential. This reaction never happened when we lost a player like Jock Madden for instance.

On the other hand, Im angry at the way this was handled by his management. They are well within their rights to knock our offer back. But, to not even look at the offer we put together smacks of disrespect. I could even accept that though. What I CANNOT accept is the disrespectful comments aimed towards the coach and flows down to his teammates. That is unacceptable from Galvin and the people that manipulate him to act that way.

You'll notice that I used the word "manipulate" in the previous sentence. I have heard Galvin speak twice.....one was a radio interview late last season and the other was part of being in a "Fletch and Hindy" skit tonight. What had really struck me in those two media spots is that although he is 18 or 19, his maturity levels are FAR below that. Don't confuse maturity with intelligence. In both of those media spots, he seems like an absolute kid, not a money hungry bastard.

He is an adult and should be responsible for his actions. But, I have absolutely no doubt in the world he is heavily manipulated by his manager to take the actions that he has done this week......and that is pretty irresponsible to put this guy through the absolute ringer by sports and social media this week. They absolutely had to have known his actions would have cause this reaction from the media and general public. A part of me feels sorry for the kid in that way....he does not have the maturity to comprehend the outcome from all of this....but unfortunately for him, he has bought a ticket to get into this circus, he will have to go through it.

Finally, our club has clearly grown off the paddock since Richo took over. Benji was an absolute star with the way he spoke today. I will be the first to admit that I had big question marks over him being the head coach of this club with no previous coaching experience. But, the way those players put in for him every week and the absolute humility with what he had to say today, he has basically won me over today. The Galvin thing could be the absolute making of Benji as a coach.

Our captains also spoke very well and Richo's strong tone is setting our club up for success. Yet, another strong day for our club.

Excellent post!!

Im not a member of the benji army, but as a player, for most of his career he was absolutely marquee.

So how Galvo could whinge about being taught how to play in and halves by Benji and JL doesnt make much sense compared with the halves talent of other clubs, coaching or playing.

But his enjoinment and sanctioning of his managers greed and avarice, apart from being bad timing, is suggestive of a youth, inexperience and dare i say it, sub standard and somewhat maladjusted and malignant upbringing.
I think it's simply, he's been given a deal (somewhere) and they are now trying to agitate for a release from us.
And if that is the case, then it's been done against the rules of the NRL and it should looked at.
Moses is nothing short of being a shitbag.

I think it's all about money and his manager being a dickhead. The thing is Galvin and his family should have just said it's about the money.

Given that we have to look to the future as to what our halves combination will look like maybe it's time to move him to lock.
We can't be accused of punishing him for that and we get maintain a quality team.

But Twal is going great there.
As Luai said, he needs to earn his way back into the squad, by deeds and respect.

Thinking about it, I don't think he will take the club to court for any reason, because Moses will know that the question will b asked if there has been a deal already done.
If it is the case, and it certainly looks like it, he and probably his client will be gone.

Just quietly we can do what we want.. parra will pay 1.4-5 mil for him at least after 1-2 years to replace Brown. Perhaps we could wrap a bow around his sorry arse and present him to “someone”

he can’t return coz then the boys WILL be found to be bullying…it’s over

Yes although..I dont buy into this poor Lacky he’s only 19 ..he’s just a kid.. if you can’t put your best foot forward when you are 19 you prob never will. It’s not his immaturity it’s his personality .. he’s just weird ..most cancers are a little bit.. that won’t change.. he’s had a serious beef with Benji and the team since he lost his spot in the pecking order in the team, when Luai arrived AND when Luai praised up Latu....I loved the comment by Latu to Galvin after the first Newcastle game.. “mate you should start playing for the team”….spot on ..Galvin never internalised that message despite it being rammed down his throat.. in the army camp and since… journalists noted he couldn’t even make eye contact with Benji and the boys when he was in the apposing team at training the other day ..he’s angry.. he’s smiling too much not to be

Im not denying that he has any responsibility in all of this. He absolutely does need to own what has and is continuing to happen.
In saying this, there is no doubt that this bloke is immature.....and a manager can take absolute advantage of this. Galvin does not behave like this without being directed to I believe.

Down the track, he will most likely have some regrets on how this has all panned out. Out of the big three that left back in 2017, two of those have since expressed regrets about how things ended at the Tigers. Teddy and Woods expressed regret over things during that time. The third guy (Mitchell Moses) is related to his manager and would have no regrets at all.

Fair enough and he probably will express regret as well down the track .. I’d just hate to read it all wrong, just coz he’s a fresh faced innocent looking boy

I agree. He absolutely hates this club.
He is influenced by many people but don’t disregard those from other clubs. Gus has been interfering publicly for over a year, appearing to give the club advice whilst saying god knows what out of earshot.

Long live the iron fist of Richo.

May it crush all those who come between the club and the premiership.

I appreciate theres a junior Benji fest coming on but when he says " ill step down when i want to" i want to remind him that we will decide who coaches the Wests Tigers not the coach.

No one person is bigger that this club.

All of this stuff for me is all pointing one way....Parramatta. I agree that Gould would absolutely be open to talking to Galvin....but he would absolutely need to take a smaller offer than what the Tigers have offered him.
He loves the Eels and Im sure a top dollar offer will be lined up for him there.
