At least I have finally worked out the obstruction rules

If the Sharks are attacking, any contact is obstruction

If the Sharks are defending, obstruction does not exist

Have we had a single obstruction ruling go our way this season from the bunker?

Yeah I'm glad they saw common sense and decided on Barba instead. Thought I read somewhere that he doesn't even want to be a fullback now... probably now realises he's a long way off!

Good to see the penny dropped. Ben Barba is back to old form and I would say untouchable at 1.

Sorry for dupe replied to wrong post and we dont have the most advanced forum software here to delete.

Amazing what a couple of competent halves and a good fullback can do to your attack. 3rd in the league as it stands... Sharks 40+ next week against the Knights

Exactly we need to make example of the Knights put them to the sword, show exactly what we can do.

Big weekend that we should dispatch Knight.

Strom vs Cowboys, so one of those teams drop out of equal leader.

Sea Eagles vs Broncs - they should test Broncs

Yeah Manly vs Broncos is a home game for Manly....at Suncorp.

This whole taking home games away thing is getting out of control.

Absolutely fkn ludicrous

I know this isn't politically correct but I'd rather Beale in Birds spot.
Bird really cramps up the right side, same as Wade on the left.
Don't shoot me.

Good call, and you're not the first one to say it. Bird to the bench, as he offers way more utility value.

Although I would agree loots has been a bit more effective than bird I can see merit in flanno deciding to persevere with bird as he is young and does have a bit of x that loots lacks
A full season of 1st grade centre should see the kid develop at that position
If I was to express concern it would be finding a permanent spot for Beale as I believe he is better than both loots and bird

yeah, he is.

So put him in the centres and have loots the bench guy.
he could also play a bit of back row? (probably grasping at straws here)

Frenzy.

It is entirely PC from where I sit. Bird is not a centres quoit. Lazy, can't catch, can't defend, confuses Humphrey (which may not be hard), cuts back in all the time, takes weally poor options most times. He's good scoring against shattered defences from 3 metres out.

Put him on the bench and let him come on late and roam around. More logical bench option than both Beale and Loots because he can probably cover more positions

Frenzy's second paragraph and Mads post are saying what I'm thinking.
I will add that I think Bird is getting a bit of a free ride, critically speaking.
In saying that I'm absolutely glad we're in this position to be questioning about players, players that in the past would be left alone because it was the best we could do, or afford.

Frenzy drinks too much and is easily led so you should not listen to him
But seriously yes it's a interesting question and to be honest whatever mix of these players is used has positives and negatives
I think we know by now flanno, if nothing else, is willing to see things develop....making a decision and sticking to it and not panic dropping as some of the ACC's on here would have him do

If any coach can trot out the cliché "I've now got MY squad "/it's Flanno. And you know what? He is showing what he really can do now he has HIS squad.
