The past couple of weeks, teams have figured out how to defend our sweep play. If we don't get a quick play the ball it is relatively easy to defend if the opposition centre rushes up. Need to try and mix it up and put a kick in over the top or try something different to have teams second guessing. Defintely need to fix this, otherwise we'll struggle to score points.
Every other time that is a double movement. It was an obvious double movement when it happened live. My Raiders mate even said that won't be a try. Not sure how they had sufficient evidence to over turn it?
Our outside backs got smashed last night. They had no impact at all. Usually we rely on them to get our sets off to a good start, but Canberra knew this and rushed up and belted Feki, Holmes etc whenever they came in looking for the ball.
Need to defuse the high ball. Teams are going to target Beale/Feki every week now. This is a massive worry if they can't get this right.
At the end of the day, if Townsend is ruled onside and we get that try at the start, the game is completely different and we probably win. For the first 15-20 minutes we belted them and looked on top, we just couldn't hang on to the ball. We created opportunities just couldn't finish them off with poor ball handling.
It was obvious we were tired and the short turn around and probably being on top for so long definitely didn't help that. As much as I didn't want to lose, I think it is probably for the best. Will take the spotlight off us for a bit and give us an opportunity to fix some stuff which has been probably sugar coated from winning.
