I dunno man. Not really my scene, I’ll let you duke it out with whoever you like.

Do I think the gnashing of teeth about the loss is massive overwrought, yes.

Am I a “newbie” as you put it? Sure. But having observed this forum for a short while, I assumed the cretins who seem to occupy this space were both slightly more thick-skinned than to be worried about the term softcock, and slightly less akin to a group of teenaged girls worrying about a new person showing up. Like, a fkn internet forum is a place you have to pay your dues or something.
Haha like you’ve not been here before. Yeah righto.

I think I can help with this to be honest.

Its cos we are mostly middle aged men who work f**king hard for our families and don’t do too much for ourselves (if anything) and we pin all our emotional reactions to our team winning and when they don’t we vent for a short while. It’s proven to help people get over it and doesn’t last for long. For example I’m fine now, just disappointed.

I certainly appreciate the candour. Viewed through that lens, it’s understandable. I’m definitely disappointed, don’t get me wrong, and frustrated about some of the ridiculous choices of a few players. But on balance — it could’ve been a lot worse and I don’t think it’s a dent on what should be lofty aspirations for 2025.

Think what you want, I don't really care. But if you must know, some newbie coming in calling people softcocks and going on about jumping off bridges isn't exactly getting anything respectful posted back to them.

I appreciate the thinly veiled offer of sorting me out at football training with a beating but I'll decline, my days of playing rugby league ended quite a few years ago so I started playing soccer. Easier on the body then getting belted taking hit ups and making tackles.
Thanks for proving my point . Hope you score plenty of goals this season .

Mate, the gnashing of teeth was you crying over other people's opinions. Then I cried over yours.

Yes, it's an internet forum and this has gotten way too deep :)

Time for the hotdog stand to make a comeback.

As for the game, I thought they went well and would probably have beaten almost any other team on that performance. Yes there were some dumb mistakes that we all like to jump on, but I reckon nearly every other forum in this place is the same.

The little detail I really liked was the amount of times they didn't give the ball to AFB close to the line. I can't remember exactly which try it was, but I thought that the defense stacking for AFB and him not receiving will result in some nice tries this year.

I also think we all got sucked into this weeks "narrative" of the underdone Panthers. They've won four in a row and won't be surprised if they go on to five this season. They are that well coached and they follow their game plan to a tee.

Anyway, I was happy and still believe we'll finish top 4 this year and give it a good shake.

All I can say how could the same game gets reffed so differently, last year at the same game at Vegas basically had no penalties where blown, this will it was a different story…

People whinge about Kennedy and Nicho, but the real handbrake in our spine for me is Brailey.
Now, I’m not saying he’s crap, he’s more than serviceable - he’s super dependable, durable, doesn’t make many mistakes, good service…… but he does NOT know how to get his forwards on a roll, and he has ZERO craft/deception/creativity.
He rarely engages the markers, there’s no deception or trickery in his play, he just shovels it on (very nicely and consistently) and it’s all very predictable - that’s why our forwards are not as good as they could be…. And that’s the 1 position in our spine that I’d choose to swap for a world class player. Stick Api at 9 in our team and we’re a whole new team.

I think I've really under appreciated what Sione Katoa brings to the side, the amount of tough runs he makes whilst generally busting out of or beating a couple of defenders was sorely missed this afternoon.
I think many have/do - I think I put it in the injuries thread when it was announced he was out. Katoa is a beast for us, he’s massively under appreciated. He’s the best winger in the club, and one of the best in the league - he’s just a lot more unassuming, cracks on with his job, goes home to his family. Ronnie does lots of amazing community stuff, and is a very very good winger (with the odd hyped up too much brain fart), but Katoa is our best.

I’m confident we’ll be there at the end of the year, but someone from our team needs to stand up and do a Liam Martin on them. I can’t get over how much he seems to intimidate our entire team.

yeah he bullied the storm, in the GF
he's really good

id like to see more out of our end from wilton and nikora personally, i don't think they take enough yardage runs
especially as we are now down sione

good point re ronny and the bombs. cant wind up if he has to do them every time

we play a bit smarter we maybe win. think theres a good team there

Did they get dudded by Rinaldo getting penalised after Martin stiff armed a player?
Nah we dudded ourselves by gifting them 3 tries after 2 mistakes and one brain fart. Brails kick off…,Nicho’s drop from the kick off and Ronnie’s brain explosion. Then there’s not finding touch from the penalty which didn’t cost us other than a missed opportunity. On the upside….we look fit and were finishing over the top of them. It took a couple of exceptional tackles to stop the game from going into extra time.
