the irony of Roosters fans complaining about a forward pass, just shows they don’t watch their own games. Not as if that team doesn’t get benefit of the doubt , housed next door to NRL HQ is obviously a hindrance (NOT) .

Their dummy half threw about 10 that first half.

Jdb and Hopgood should swap.

Hopgood was horrendous in 13 last season. Wasn’t even first grade quality

moved into front row and he hasn’t looked back

thinking our bench / pack might need some adjustment.

We started with JDB/Smith/Hopgood, all workers and good defensively.

But then they are being replaced by Walker/Doorey/TDS who are not as good defensively. Might be better to start one of these. So there is a better balance.

Maybe Walker for JDB/Hopgood. Another option is Guymer for Doorey, but that's unlikely.

I think it’s fair to assume Russell hasn’t just locked down his left side position, he has stamped his name on it.

Is there any uncertainty over the backline now is Simonsen /Samrani for that right centre spot outside Penisini?

Watching the game again,good apart from the appalling biased commentary, which is worse than first look. The Roosters basically rotated their first choice pack through the game, and with 10minutes left, they were still on the field, Tedesco and Williams stayed for a lot longer than the media would have you believe.

Kevvie Walter’s must be there for a reason other than his commentary as it’s useless and all he did was talk uo the Roosters. When Volkman stopped Crichton, he just carried on about Sam Walker and Crichton dominating, he is deadset embarrassing. Shouty Voss is not getting any better.

Some decent signs with Talatina and Papalii more than handy with Tuavati and Teancum showing good ability. Not expecting anything other than competitive season, Guessing 6 to 10 the position depending on availability in the halves and no significant injuries in the back 5 .

Walters is just dumb. Might be a good bloke. I dont doubt all those rumours about Reynolds was actually coaching the club when Walters was there

Maybe , but in prev years he was better. He made Qld SOO at lock.

Last year, I reckon he still was confused with his role with Ryles. He was in 2 minds whether to pass and offload or run hard. I think he was told to just run hard.

The thing about watching this trial was that I think Walker might be finished soon. He is great in attack but I think he is struggling fitness wise and hence in defense.

Maybe next year would be his last. JDB isn't his replacement.

So we need to start blooding a middle half. Will it be Charlie or Doorey or Moretti? Charlie might have the smarts, the other 2, I am not sure.

Unless it is Riley so that when Tallyn gets on, he can stay on. I wouldn't mind it be Riley but I don't think Tallyn is up to scratch yet.

Samrani is a try scorer and can play forward or back, might be a good bench option.

So many players have improved under Ryles. Penisini was a different player last night. Where has this been ?
